  • Patent number: 11018483
Abstract: A cable preparation machine includes a blade assembly having arms and braid blades mounted thereto and disposed about a cable opening receiving a cable end along a cable axis. The arms are movable between retracted positions and advanced positions to move the braid blades. The braid blades have edges configured to engage a cable braid of the cable to cut the cable braid. The cable preparation machine includes a mandrel coupled to the end of the cable between the cable braid and an inner insulator of the cable. The braid blades are rotated around the cable axis pressing the cable braid between the edges of the braid blades and the mandrel to cut the braid blade.

  • Patent number: 10790647
Abstract: The invention relates to stripping pliers (1). During a cutting stroke of the stripping pliers (1), cutting blades (14a, 14b) radially cut into an insulation of a cable (13). In a subsequent break-away stroke, the partially cut sub-region (33) of the insulation of the cable (13) is broken away. Finally, in a stripping stroke the broken away sub-region (33) is pulled along the longitudinal axis (19) of the cable (13) from the electrical wire (39). In order to avoid that in the stripping stroke, wherein the forces between the cable and the cutting blades (14a, 14b) suddenly drop, the hand levers (2, 3) perform an uncontrolled fast closing movement according to the invention at the transition from the break-away stroke to the stripping stroke a spring element and/or damping element (37) becomes effective which preferably comes into contact with a roller (36) of a lever (22).

Abstract: A cable stripping tool is provided for making a circumferential or ring cut and a spiral cut in the jacket of a cable. A cutting blade of the tool includes first and second blade portions which are integrally formed with each other and are angled relative to each other. In use, after the cutting blade penetrates the jacket, the tool is rotated in a first direction and the first blade portion cuts the jacket to form a ring cut. The tool is then rotated in a second, opposite direction and the second blade portion cuts the jacket to form a spiral cut. Thereafter, the tool is rotated in the first direction and the first blade portion cuts the jacket to form a ring cut. The cuttings by the blade portions are done without disengaging the cutting blade from the cable.

A frame member disposed between the jaw and the body adjusts the distance between the jaw and the body to accommodate cables of different diameters. The frame member relatively moves the jaw and the body with respect to each other along a line having a constant sliding angle. The angle adjustment shaft has a flange extending radially outwardly for driving the shaft to different angles of rotation with respect to the body. Abstract: A tool for slitting an elongate sheath from about an elongate member that is disposed within a longitudinally extending lumen of the sheath includes a longitudinally extending tail portion projecting rearward of a slitting edge and a nose portion of the tool; a lower surface of the nose portion is disposed beneath the slitting edge for engaging a portion of the elongate member. The tail portion of the tool, approximately aligned with the sheath lumen when the lower surface, engages the elongate member and a leading edge of the nose portion is within the sheath lumen, is sized to fit within the sheath lumen after the sheath is slit by the slitting edge. A passageway between the nose portion and the tail portion allows a proximal segment of the elongate member to bend away from the tail portion when the elongate member is engaged by the nose portion.
