    Abstract: A release mechanism especially but not exclusively for use in a prosthetic hand. The release mechanism includes a retainer and a release pin held within the retainer so as to be moveable between an engagement position and a release position. The retainer is provided with portions which engage the release pin to restrain it to movement between the engagement position and the release position. The portions include ball bearings to reduce the friction between the retainer and the release pin. Also, a prosthetic hand having such a release mechanism is provided so that the user can release the hand if it becomes jammed.

    Abstract: A bearing cover assembly can be assembled to a bearing housing in which a rolling element bearing is accommodated. The bearing housing assembly includes an annular adapter and an end cap that can be mated together. The annular adapter can have a tapered inner annular surface and can be inserted into the housing bore of the bearing housing. The end cap can have a corresponding outer tapered surface. When the end cap is inserted into the adapter hole defined by the annular adapter, the sliding contact between the tapered inner annular surface and the outer surface radially expands the annular adapter inside the housing bore creating a positive engagement retaining the bearing cover assembly to the bearing housing.

An annular protruding part is formed on a part of an inner peripheral surface of a center hole of a wheel to protrude toward a center of the wheel. In a state where the wheel is fixed to the flange part by using hub bolts, a fitting part and the annular protruding part are spigot-fitted. In a state where the hub bolts are removed, the annular protruding part is locked by the collar part.

    Abstract: A method for constructing a floating wheel cap using a modified original wheel cap. The original wheel cap is modified to provide a passage through the face of the original wheel cap and a positioning surface on the back of the original wheel cap. A fixed bearing retainer is fixedly attached to the back of the modified wheel cap using adhesive, and preferably using double sided tape. An offset weight floating cap is inserted through the passage in the modified wheel cap, through a bearing held in the fixed bearing retainer, and held in place by a ring. The offset weight floating cap is free to rotate in the modified wheel cap and includes an offset weight to urge the offset weight floating cap to a position displaying a design on the face of the offset weight floating cap in a desired position.
