  • Patent number: 10919337
Abstract: A wheel cover assembly has a mounting ring, an outer wheel cover, and an inner wheel locking structure. The mounting ring attaches to a vehicle wheel hub via latch mechanisms that latch over an axle flange of the wheel hub. The outer wheel cover has axially-inwardly-extending latches that secure the outer wheel cover to the mounting ring. The inner wheel locking structure includes axially-inwardly-extending latches that pass through openings in the outer wheel cover, securing the outer wheel cover to the mounting ring. The inner locking structure includes latches that pass through openings in the outer wheel cover. This inner locking structure includes locking pins that extend into the locking ring to lock the wheel cover latches to the mounting ring. A pair of inner locking faces on the inner locking structure lock the mounting ring latches to the wheel hub.

  • Patent number: 10836207
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of forming a wheel assembly consisting of a wheel portion and a cover portion. The method includes handling the wheel portion from dunnage to a work cell with an outboard face of the wheel portion facing away from a supporting surface. Next, determining a planar position and a rotational position of wheel portion and retrieving the cover portion. The method proceeds with applying an adhesive to at least one of the back side of the cover portion and the outboard face of the wheel portion. Then, aligning the cover portion with the wheel portion utilizing the planar position and the rotational position. The next step is engaging the cover portion and the wheel portion with one another and maintaining the wheel portion in engagement with the cover portion for a predetermined amount of time with a predetermined amount of pressure to form the wheel assembly.

  • Patent number: 7775604
Abstract: An interlocking method and its structure for wheel-rim cover is provided and includes a plurality of engaging seats integrally formed along the peripheral edge of the rear side of a wheel-rim cover body. Each engaging seat has an interlocking block pivotally coupled thereto. An inner edge of the interlocking block forms the pivotal axis thereof and is displaceably disposed on an inclined surface of an engaging slot formed in the engaging seat. The outer edge of the interlocking block is displaceably disposed in an engaging groove of the wheel-rim body. By that arrangement, displacement of the wheel-rim cover body toward the hub of the wheel-rim body results in a displacement of the interlocking block to provide respective frictional engagement of the inner and outer ends of the interlocking block with the inclined surface of the engaging slot and the surface of the engaging groove.
