Patent number: 11021010Abstract: A shielding structure for a wheel having a turning axis, a rim, and a tire mounted to the rim for rolling against an underlying surface. The wheel has axially oppositely facing sides. A mounting assembly is attached to the rim to move as one piece therewith. A plurality of shielding components are attached to the mounting assembly to overlie at least a part of the tire at one of the axially oppositely facing sides of the wheel. At least one of the shielding components is made from a non-metal material and a reinforcing element.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2018Date of Patent: June 1, 2021Assignee: Argonics, Inc.Inventor: Jeremy Nylund

Publication number: 20120112520Abstract: The present invention relates to an explosion-proof security tyre for vehicles. The tyre includes an outer tyre, a split rim, a L-shaped sealing ring, a combined support loop and a valve core. The combined support loop includes a plurality layers of support rings they are sleeved by layer on layer and fixed with the rim. The size of the tyre can increased by the combined support loop so as to furthest shorten the distance between the inner wall of the outer tyre and the outer wall of the combined support loop at a normal pressure of tyre. At the moment that the tyre is burst, the combined support loop can support the outer tyre quickly and effectively, and control the change of acting radius of the tyre in a minimum range so as to ensure the basic performance of the tyre and to prevent accidents caused by sudden control loss of running direction and avoid potential security risks.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2010Publication date: May 10, 2012Inventors: Xiaoyin Wu, Dazhong Wu

Patent number: 7731299Abstract: A wheel on a vehicle having a flat tire may be protected by attaching a first semi-cylindrical shell having a first planar end to the wheel, and attaching a second semi-cylindrical shell to the first semi-cylindrical shell. The first semi-cylindrical shell and the second semi-cylindrical shell are secured together so as to form a cylindrical shell of diameter having a cylindrical wall which covers a tread surface of the flat tire. The first semi-cylindrical shell is attached to the wheel to cover a first portion of a tread surface of the flat tire; and, after attaching the first semi-cylindrical shell, the wheel is rotated. The first portion of the tread surface does not contact a ground surface prior to the rotation step, but does contact a ground surface through the first semi-cylindrical shell after the rotation step. A connector for connecting the semi-cylindrical shells to the wheel is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2008Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Inventor: Torek Thompkins

Publication number: 20090051213Abstract: It is to solve problems in a safety tire in which hollow particles also referred to as the foamable compositions are filled in the hollow ring-shaped partition wall and to provide a safety tire having a partition wall structure capable of sufficiently developing the function of the hollow particles. In a safety tire comprising a tire/approved rim assembly constructed by assembling the tire onto the approved rim, a hollow ring-shaped partition wall disposed inside the assembly to define a chamber extending in a circumferential direction along the rim, and thermally expandable hollow particles filled in the chamber and each consisting of a continuous phase of a resin and a closed cell(s), wherein the partition wall is provided with a filter selectively passing only a gas emitted when the hollow particles are thermally expanded.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2006Publication date: February 26, 2009Applicant: BRIDGESTONE CORPORATIONInventor: Koji Otani

Patent number: 6217125Abstract: The safety wheel assembly uses spacer mounting nuts to allow the mounting of a spare or second wheel and tire on an existing motor vehicle wheel mount assembly. The primary wheel and tire of a vehicle are normally mounted using lug or mounting bolts. These bolts are then used to secure the primary tire with the spacer mounting nut which thereby provides for mounting the spare wheel and tire outwardly of the primary wheel relative to the vehicle. The two tires and wheels are spaced such as not to contact one to the other. The spare tire is a smaller diameter than the primary wheel. For example the standard size spare tire of solid rubber may be mounted in such a position as such spare tires are of a smaller diameter. The spare tire may also have protruding elements on the tire surface to aid in travel under snow conditions.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1999Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Inventor: Louis Raymond Tubetto
