Abstract: A purpose of the present invention is to provide a rim wheel and a tire rim assembly which are capable of effectively reducing cavity resonance of a tire, and accordingly, enhancing quietness and riding comfort. A plurality of cap members 20 is arranged on an outer circumferential surface of a rim 16 in a circumferential direction thereof, diaphragms are disposed inwardly of each cap member 20, and a plurality of sub-air chambers 32 is formed between the rim 16 and the cap members 20 in a rim circumferential direction. The tire main air chamber 18 is connected to the sub-air chambers 32 through communicating holes 24 formed on the cap members 20. The sub-air chambers 32 and the communicating holes 24 constitute a Helmholtz resonance noise absorber that can absorb vibration with specified frequencies.

  • Patent number: 7097259
Abstract: A wheel structure wherein a hub includes both a hub body and a rubber support member which closes an opening of the hub body. A right bearing disposed on the hub body side and a left bearing disposed on the rubber support member side are rotatably mounted on an axle. An inner collar fitted on the axle is provided for maintaining a constant distance between the right and left bearings. The right bearing is brought into abutment against the rubber support member through a cylindrical outer collar which surrounds the inner collar. When the right bearing is press-fitted into the hub body hole, a press-fit load imposed on the right bearing can be borne by the rubber support member through the outer collar. The rigidity of the hub can be enhanced while preventing deformation. A higher load can be borne to act on the hub during vehicular operation.

Abstract: A heat shield assembly for a wheel and brake assembly includes one or more torque bars that include a coupling device which cooperates with a portion of a heat shield (and more particularly heat shield sections) at a location axially outwardly remote from the inboard end of the heat shield so as to restrain radial outward movement of the heat shield. In another embodiment, the heat shield assembly includes heat shield carriers between which respective heat shield sections are axially inserted, and retainers are removably secured with respect to the carriers for blocking axial withdrawal of the heat shield sections from respective carriers. In another embodiment, heat shield carriers include a reversely bent edge portion defining a capture slot, and at least one aperture in the bent edge portion. A heat shield section has at one side thereof a first tab portion circumferentially inserted in the capture slot and at an opposite side thereof a second tab portion engaged in the aperture.
