Welded At Side Of Rim Patents (Class 301/63.105)
  • Patent number: 11541685
Abstract: The invention relates to a wheel, especially for motor vehicles, comprising a wheel rim and a wheel disc, the wheel rim having a rim base made of fiber composite material. The invention is characterized in that the wheel disc (3, 11, 20, 29, 40) can be indirectly connected to the wheel rim (1), in particular the rim base (2), by means of a connecting element (5, 14, 22, 31, 35, 42) which is designed and associated with the rim base (2) in such a way that the connected wheel disc (3, 11, 20, 29, 40) is not in contact with the rim base (2).

  • Patent number: 9327547
Abstract: A spoke 15 has a spoke crest 15a, a spoke radially outer wall 15b and a pair of spoke circumferential side walls 15c. In a cross section of the spoke 15 along a radial direction of a disk, a crest outer curved portion 15a2 of the spoke crest 15a is curved at a larger curvature than curvatures of a crest inner curved portion 15a1 of the spoke crest 15, a crest main portion 15a4 of the crest and the spoke radially outer wall 15b. Thus, compared with a conventional one, a configuration of the spoke 15 becomes like a box. As a result, a bending strength and a bending rigidity of the spoke 15 in the radial direction of the disk can be improved.

  • Patent number: 8622485
Abstract: An inner peripheral end portion of an annular back peripheral portion forming a front flange portion, an opening end portion of a front bead seat portion and a back surface portion of a wheel disc are joined to each other by a first welded portion and a second welded portion. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the front flange portion from being repeatedly elastically deformed by loads generated while the automobile is running. In addition, it is possible to mitigate a stress concentration generated on the front flange portion and the first welded portion and the second welded portion. Thus, an automobile wheel can exhibit high durability.

  • Patent number: 8403426
Abstract: An automobile wheel includes: a wheel rim 2 including a circumferential positioning fitting groove 32 formed circumferentially around the center axis of the wheel rim 2 in the front surface of a circumferential bent portion 31 at which a front bead seat portion 13 and a front rim flange portion 11 are formed continuously with each other; and a wheel disc 3 including a circumferential insertion edge 36 formed circumferentially around the center axis of the wheel disc 3 on the back surface of an outer peripheral edge portion 24. The wheel rim 2 and the wheel disc 3 are welded to each other for integration with the circumferential insertion edge 36 fitted in the circumferential positioning fitting groove 32. The respective center axes of the wheel rim 2 and the wheel disc 3 are aligned with each other with high precision, achieving an advantageous effect that vibration that occurs while an automobile is running is suppressed to improve the operation stability and achieve high durability.

  • Patent number: 8123303
Abstract: In an automobile wheel, a surface-side flange is provided on an outer circumferential edge of a wheel disk. The surface-side flange includes: a surface-side annular circumferential portion on an aesthetic surface; and a back-side annular circumferential portion that is formed continuously with, and on the back side of, the surface-side annular circumferential portion and that is thinner than the surface-side annular circumferential portion. An inner circumferential end of the back-side annular circumferential portion of the surface-side flange and an opening end of a surface-side bead seat of a wheel rim are welded together all along their circumferences. The automobile wheel allows the back-side annular circumferential portion of the surface-side flange to bear a stress that acts on a weld area. This relaxes the stress concentration on the weld area.

  • Publication number: 20050269865
Abstract: A vehicle wheel includes a substantially circular disc defining opposing first and second surfaces. The disc includes a first region, such as a flange, that is substantially perpendicular to the plane defined by the disc and projects from the first surface, and a second region adjacent to the first region. The second region has a continuous curvature extending toward the center of the disc. The continuous curvature defines a radius of curvature and a center of curvature, both of which being located on a side of the second surface.

Abstract: An automotive passenger vehicle, full-face styled wheel construction having a sheet metal disc with an outer peripheral portion formed to provide an outboard tire bead retaining flange. The rim includes an inboard tire bead retaining flange, an inboard tire bead seat portion, a drop-center well portion and an outboard bead seat portion. The outboard edge of the rim has a radially in-turned flange portion extending circumferentially continuously around the rim edge with a plurality of serrations on an outside surface thereof that engage the disc. The rim and disc parts are permanently joined by a circumferentially continuous weld between the radially in-turned flange portion of the rim and the disc and into at least some of the serrations. The serrations eliminate or substantially reduce weld splatter by allowing weld gases to flow and escape evenly, and reduce weld material runout by providing high points for leveling during welding. Machining of the weld is eliminated.
