  • Patent number: 8510009
Abstract: The invention relates to a vehicle braking system, the slip of which can be regulated electronically, for which, in the event of an automatic braking process, the activation of the foot pedal by the driver, does not result in a significant actuating path. The driver therefore disadvantageously perceives different pedal actuating characteristics in the foot actuated and automatic braking operations. According to the invention, a method is proposed for controlling a vehicle braking system, the slip of which is regulated electronically, and with which pedal actuating characteristics, which are largely uniform in the different operating states of the vehicle braking system can be produced. To achieve this, a valve unit is controlled in such a way that a pressure medium flows from the wheel brake to the pressure medium reservoir and the drive motor of the pressure generator is controlled in parallel.

Abstract: A brake controller function to optimally brake a wheel of a vehicle in motion, such as an aircraft. The brake pressure control self regulates by means of applying brake pressure in accordance with vehicle acceleration information and the change in acceleration over time in the horizontal plane. Vehicle acceleration and information about its change enable a brake pressure control function to determine the brake pressure associated with maximum obtainable retardation for a vehicle at that given point in time. By continuously monitoring acceleration change and detecting retardation pinnacles, the culmination and turning points of retardation, with their associated brake pressure, maximum braking ability is assured at any given time. By applying acceleration data in real time as a controls reference in a brake logic control function to increase or reduce brake pressure, such a brake control function will assure a brake pressure perfectly fit with net of all the forces that a vehicle is subjected to.

  • Patent number: 6557950
Abstract: A hydraulic brake apparatus for a vehicle comprises a master cylinder and an auxiliary hydraulic pressure source. A master cylinder hydraulic pressure outputted from the master cylinder is adjusted by adding a master cylinder hydraulic pressure in response to an operation of a brake operating member to a master cylinder hydraulic pressure at an auto-braking control when the brake operating member is operated during the auto-braking control. The master cylinder hydraulic pressure is adjusted by controlling an operation of a valve means so as to increase a power hydraulic-pressure supplied from the auxiliary hydraulic pressure source to a regulating means corresponding to the amount of the operation of the brake operating member.

  • Publication number: 20020180263
Abstract: In a system of accelerating a car using a brake operating mechanism, the driver is required to be ready to step on the brake operating mechanism so as to rapidly decelerate the car in order to avoid danger, if necessary, while he is releasing his foot from the brake operating mechanism, which is a burden for the driver. Therefore, a footrest function range and a braking force increasing function range are provided to an operating amount or an operating force of a pedal 13.

  • Patent number: 6474753
Abstract: For externally actuating a brake system, both the surroundings of the brake pedal and, if necessary, additional parameters (d,d ,Vref) are monitored a sensor unit (6,10,11). Then the brake pressure (pnom) will be set automatically in an expedient manner in dependence of the individual parameters that were evaluated. Advantageous further embodiments include proposals for precharging the brake or braking slightly or automatically applying a higher brake pressure in dependence of the measuring results, in so far as this is reasonable with respect to road conditions and the driver's wishes as they were assumed by the system.

  • Patent number: 6460942
Abstract: When a normal braking is performed, a master cylinder (32) and wheel cylinders (44FR, 44FL, 44RR, 44RL) are set to a conducting state. When an emergency braking is performed, the master cylinder and the wheel cylinders are joined together so that a large brake force can be generated. If the wheel cylinders are connected to an accumulator soon after the emergency braking, an increase in the wheel cylinder pressure can be prevented. Even after the emergency braking, the wheel cylinders and the master cylinder are maintained in the conducting state while the master cylinder pressure is rapidly increasing.

  • Patent number: 6364433
Abstract: The safety brake system for a motor vehicle continuously monitors for a rear impact collision. If the rear impact is classified as one requiring responsive intervention, the system applies a braking force to the motor vehicle wheels. If the vehicle was stopped with the brake applied at the instant of the rear impact, then the brakes are completely blocked. As a result, the brakes are not released when the driver's foot is forced off the brake pedal upon impact and the resultant forward jerk of the vehicle is reduced or substantially suppressed. If the car was traveling a given speed at the instant of impact, the brakes are applied with a reduced braking force.
