    Abstract: An electronic device includes a first rechargeable battery, a solar cell mounted on the electronic device, a second rechargeable battery and a power management circuit. The power management circuit includes a control module, a DC/DC module, a switch and a power supply switching module. The DC/DC module is configured for converting the DC power generated by the solar cell from one voltage level to another, and activating and maintaining the activation of the control module. The switch is turned on by the control module when the control module is activated, causing the DC power from the DC/DC module to charge the second rechargeable battery. The power supply switching module is controlled by the control module to select the second rechargeable battery to power the electronic device if the voltage level of the rechargeable battery is lower than that of the second rechargeable battery.

    Abstract: An apparatus having n-number of working cross-connects for cross-connecting an n-bit input signals arriving from a plurality of input paths on a per-bit basis; n-number of first logic circuits for calculating the exclusive-ORs of each said n-bit and applying outputs to a standby cross-connect for providing outputs; n-number of second logic circuits for calculating the exclusive-ORs of said output signals from each of said working cross-connects and from the single standby cross-connect; and third logic circuits for selecting output signals of said working cross-connects and outputs of the second logic circuits. The apparatus detects the occurrence of an abnormality in working cross-connects by monitoring the outputs of the second logic circuits, identifies the faulty cross-connect by successively turning off one of the n-inputs to the first and second logic circuits, and select outputs from the second logic circuits instead of from the faulty cross-connect by using the third logic circuits.

    Abstract: A technique for logically connecting local communications networks (CNs) that may be separated by wide area networks containing routers and other network components. A logical link is formed between two devices called tunnelers, such that, once a tunnel has been established between two CNs, other devices on the CNs can communicate. The tunneling mechanism of the invention requires that each CN have only one active tunneler at any particular time, referred to as the designated tunneler, and each of the tunnelers is configured to have knowledge of the identities of the other tunnelers. A tunnel is established after a successful exchange of messages between two tunnelers, and then traffic may be forwarded through the tunnel in a transparent manner. The tunneling mechanism permits messages to be forwarded between CNs separated by a wide area network containing routers.

    Abstract: A railroad vital relay control circuit has a first input for receiving a reference alternating current signal of a selected frequency and a second input for receiving a track alternating current signal having the selected frequency of the reference signal and a predetermined phase and magnitude relationship therewith. A magnetic core provides a logical AND function and has two input arms and an intermediate output arm. There is a winding on each of the input arms and a winding on the output arm. There are frequency tuned voltage limiting circuit elements connecting the first input and a first one of the magnetic core input windings and the second input and the second input winding of the magnetic core. The magnetic core has an output winding on the intermediate arm which is connected to a vital relay. The input windings on the magnetic core are connected to produce flux in the same direction in the output arm.
