  • Patent number: 4977342
Abstract: An electromagnetic vibration generator or shaker comprises an armature suspended from a stator and having a coil carried by the armature located in an air gap in the stator. A D.C. magnetic field is produced across the air gap and when an alternating current is fed through the armature coil the armature virbrates along its longitudinal axis. According to the invention the armature is suspended at its periphery by a plurality of suspension members which are arranged in pairs and allow free movement of the armature along its axis of vibration. However the two members of each pair are arranged at an angle to each other and exhibit a stiffness to lateral movement of the armature so as to restrain turning forces acting on the armature in either direction of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4968225
Abstract: A magnet holder for an electromagnetic diaphragm pump comprising a reinforcing member having at least in part thereof a width smaller than the distance between a pair of magnets placed in the predetermined positions in magnet insertion windows is provided integrally with the magnet holder between the pair of magnet insertion windows for juxtaposing and holding a pair of flat plate-shaped magnets in the same plane, so that the mechanical strength of the magnet holder is prevented from decreasing. And positioning members may be formed in the reinforcing member for pressing the pair of magnets inserted into the magnet insertion windows toward the diaphragms attached to opposite ends of the magnet holder, thereby positioning the magnets with enough accuracy and determining the distance between the magnets.

  • Patent number: 4968909
Abstract: A compact torque motor providing bi-directional, limited angle reactionless torque to opposed structures. A motor (10, 150) includes an X-shaped core (12), and first and second pole pieces (14 and 16), which are disposed at opposite sides of the core. Two opposed legs on the X-shaped core (12) comprise a first core section (18), which is transverse to a similar second core section (20). A first electromagnetic coil (22) is formed on the first core section and a second electromagnetic coil (24) on the second core section. When the first and second electromagnetic coils are alternately energized, tabs (38, 40, 44, and 46) disposed approximate the ends of the first and second pole pieces are attracted to the resulting magnetic poles (26 and 28, 30 and 32), causing the pole pieces to counter-rotate back and forth about a central axis (48). Magnetic flux developed by the first and second electromagnetic coils is conveyed through the tabs and the first and second pole pieces between the opposite magnetic poles.

  • Patent number: 4965864
Abstract: An electromechanical linear motor incorporating a number of electrically conductive drive coils arranged axially and embedded in a composite matrix so as to form a hollow cylinder within which a piston or pistons are placed. Permanent magnets or conductive coils arranged around the circumference of the pistons interact through magnetic coupling with the drive coils so as to cause the piston to move in accordance with the currents applied to the drive coils. These currents are supplied through logic control circuitry which receives inputs from a number of sensors including piston position sensors, thermostats, pressure transducers and timers. Based on the information received from these sensors, a microprocessor controlled power circuit provides electrical pulses of a frequency, amplitude and duration designed to produce piston motion appropriate to the specific application.

  • Patent number: 4171493
Abstract: A linear induction motor includes one ferromagnetic member thereof which is movably resiliently mounted in the motor frame so as to move toward the stator in the motor whenever current is applied thereto. A portion of the armature in the motor extends between the resiliently movable member and the motor frame. When the motor is energized the armature is free to move between the ferromagnetic member and stator. When the motor is de-energized, the resiliently movable member is biased toward the motor frame and sandwiches the armature between the member and the frame so as to prevent the movement thereof. Reactivating the motor then attracts the movable member toward the stator and frees the armature.
