Abstract: A tamper evident file holder especially suited for use in containing hanging files in a file cabinet drawer. The file holder is normally a full enclosure pouch configured for holding a plurality of files with one access portal such as a zippered closure or the like. In the preferred embodiment disclosed herein, the enclosure is made of a heavy fabric such as leather, vinyl, canvas, nylon or other tear resistant material. The zipper is locked in the closed position by a locking device comprising a disposable element in the form of a plug and stem which must be fractured to permit unlocking the locking device to open the zipper and gain access to the interior of the pouch. By coding each disposable element with a unique and indelible code, one can readily ascertain that the zipper has been unlocked to permit access to the files within the pouch. The pouch is preferably configured with hanger rods to permit hanging the file holder on a standard pair of file cabinet drawer rails.

  • Patent number: 6012594
Abstract: A free-standing chart portfolio for display, storing, file acessing and transporting hanging sheets of documents, such as posters and charts (or other large graphics). The portfolio includes one or more storage frame, for receiving sheets having two flat flexible plastic tabs with holes and slits attached to the back top edge. The spacing of the tabs matches the width of the storage frame. The frame can be used in two positions, a storage position and a file access position. In the storage position the sheets are packed tightly. The storage frame is removable from the portfolio to change the position or for transportation to a different location. The portfolio has two hinged covers, which serve as protective covers, or, when opened, as stands of the portfolio.

  • Patent number: 5971166
Abstract: An improved box file structure is provide for use in a hanging office drawer file. A pocket member is formed of flat, sheet stock that is folded and fastened in such a way as to form a pair of transverse, mutually parallel retaining panels, a connecting web between the lower extremities of the retaining panels, and end flaps extending between the side edges of the retaining panels. A pair of rigid support bars extend through sleeves formed at the upper extremities of the retaining panels. The support bars have hooks at their ends that engage the rails of the hanging file. The connecting web and the end panels are each divided in half by a fold. The central fold in the connecting web is parallel to the support bars, while the folds that divide the end panels in half are perpendicular thereto. The structure of the pocket sheet may thereby be collapsed fully to bring the retaining panels into face-to-face contact with each other.

Abstract: A coupling member is disclosed for connecting together adjacent hanging file folders. An elongate member includes a slot is formed along the full length thereof and positioned to receive the upper edges of the leaves of two adjacent folders. In a preferred embodiment, the slot is defined by two spaced-apart surfaces which extend into the interior region of the elongate member. The interior region may be solid or may be partially or fully hollow. The elongate member has any one of a number of cross-sectional profiles, including semi-circular, rectilinear, triangular and concave shaped profiles. In another embodiment of the present invention, the coupling member includes two slots each for receiving one of two adjacent folders.

Abstract: A file marker for marking the position of material removed from a file drawer or similar receptacle is disclosed. The file marker comprises a relatively flat body portion having a body side edge, a clip body extending from the body side edge, and a clip extending downwardly from the clip body and defining a gap adjacent to the body side edge for receiving a file rail. The clip is resiliently biased toward the body portion and is resiliently movable to adjust the size of the gap for receiving file rails of varying widths. The adjustable clip is particularly beneficial for accommodating the assorted types of file rails typically found in lateral files and file drawers in office furniture.

  • Patent number: 5890604
Abstract: A tab/hook like device for hanging posters and charts (or other large graphics) for storage, retrieval and reorganization. One or more flat flexible plastic tabs with holes and slits, acting as easily opened and automatically closing tabs, are attached to the back top edge of the posters or charts to be stored. If multiple tabs are used, then the tabs are separated at a preestablished intervals along the top edge of the poster or chart. (Alternatively one long tab may be used spanning the same distance at the top of the poster or chart.) These tab/hooks holding a poster or chart are snapped onto the rods or rings of a holding rack. Because the posters and charts are hanging they are easy to separate, review and locate; and because the tab/hooks are flexible, individual posters or charts may easily be removed from the rack and placed back again on the rack in any other position within the established sequence of posters or charts.

  • Patent number: 5813734
Abstract: A file guide is formed for use in a hanging file that has a pair of rigid, laterally-spaced, parallel rails held elevated at the top of a file storage compartment, such as a file drawer. The file guide is formed of a thin, flat member that is longer than the distance between the parallel rails. The flat member has a pair of ears at its opposite ends in which rail openings are formed entirely within the structure of the ears. Each of the rail openings is large enough to receive and surround one of the rails. Access slits narrower than the rails are defined in the ears to extend between the rail openings and locations on the perimeter of the thin, flat member. The flat member is sufficiently elastically deformable to spread apart at the slits to permit passage of the rails therethrough. It is also sufficiently resilient to return to an undeformed condition to capture the rail within the rail openings after passage of the rail through the access slits.
