At least one latch assembly (28) is recessed within the complementary skirts (17, 27) and includes a latch handle (30) having an outer contour matching the complementary skirts (17, 27). A lock receiving area (52) is also recessed within the complementary skirts (17, 27). Side handles (62) are formed in the base portion (13) and recessed beneath the cover portion (11). A top handle (66) is provided within a recess (67) in the top surface (14) of cover portion (11).

Abstract: A tower unit for a personal computer wherein the tower unit is a generally rectangular box having a generally rectangular interior chassis. The interior chassis includes a first set of interiorly extending mounting flanges and tabs which are positioned and aligned on opposing chassis walls to mount one or more drives at an upwardly facing angle in order to allow the user visual and manual access to the drives for ease of operation. A similar combination of interiorly directed tabs and flanges are formed in the opposing side walls of the frame near the bottom of the tower unit chassis in order to mount a plurality of hard disk drives in horizontal positions. The frame includes a front frame panel which combines with the front bezel to provide a gripping area which cooperates with another gripping area formed in the rear bezel to allow the tower unit to be easily moved about.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a housing which includes a handle assembly attached thereto. The handle assembly has a first retracted position and a second extended position. The handle assembly includes a fluid container suspension mechanism thereon. Accordingly, when the handle assembly is in the second extended position, fluid containers may be suspended from the suspension mechanism on the handle assembly. The handle assembly may be retracted to the first position for storage or transport or for carrying the device via the handle assembly.

Abstract: A facsimile apparatus provided with a handle which is pulled out of the facsimile body when the facsimile apparatus is carried. The handle is designed to be turned and set in an inclined positon relative to the facsimile body, thereby enabling the automatic and continuous feed of a plurality of original documents to be transmitted and accordingly dispensing with an original document tray.

Abstract: A portable travel pantry has a rectangular main module for carrying food items and items relating to serving of food. The main module has separate compartments for conveniently storing eating utensils, food boxes, canned goods, and plates used for serving food. The main module has a swingable front wall and a swingable top wall, each of which is swingable between a transport configuration and a serving configuration. A catch-all module for receiving relatively bulky items may be selectively attached and detached from the main module. The portable travel pantry provides for an arrangement and segregation of the various food items and items relating to serving of the food, and the swingable front wall together with the swingable top wall provide for convenient access to the inside of the travel pantry and also additional surfaces for preparation of the meal. The detachable catch-all can be conveniently detached and placed alongside the main module when serving and preparing the meal.

Abstract: A housing includes a plurality of cavities directed through a forward wall, wherein an uppermost row of the cavities contains slidable drawer members for mounting various stationery components therewithin. Underlying cavities are arranged for positioning cards and sheet members therewithin. The housing includes a top floor spaced above a bottom floor, and the aforenoted cavities positioned below an upper edge of side walls of the housing to provide a writing and containment surface that includes a slot when an uppermost lid is mounted to a forward lid of the housing. A modificaiton of the invention includes a spring plate mounted in the slot to maintain mail and the like directed therewithin, as well as stationary devices to include a clock, stamp dispensing housing, calculator, and a calendar card mounted within a "U" shaped framework mounted within the top lid of the housing.

Abstract: An apparatus including a table mounting a container thereon. The table includes a matrix of hook members to mount spray bottles thereon containing various cleaning and maintenance fluids. The table further includes a central recess containing an "I" shaped handle telescopingly nested therewithin. The table tops include boss plug members for positioning and alignment of "V" shaped grooves directed through each corner of the container. The container includes a plurality of compartments, wherein the compartments include a chamois cloth and a brush.

Abstract: A protective case for shipping and for using in place therein a portable sound-playing device such as an audio or video unit, forms a housing resembling a rectangular box whose top side has an opening closed by a cover hinged at its rear edge to the housing for pivoting upwardly and rearwardly to an open position to insert the device, and whose front side has an opening closed by a cover hinged at its bottom edge to the housing for pivoting forwardly and downwardly and then rearwardly and upwardly to a self-storing position parallel to the housing bottom side and in which a protrusion on the cover releasably engages a recess in the bottom side, for unhindered sound transmission from the device via the front opening. The free edges of the top and front covers inter-engage to form a closure seam when the covers are closed, and moisture-impeding edge-sealing formations along the openings and one of the free edges forming the seam seal the covers to the housing and to each other when closed.

Abstract: An integrated system for storing and transporting files, flat materials, and office supplies is disclosed, including a file cabinet having bottomless drawers for receiving hanging file and supply holders, a briefcase having inward-facing ledges for receiving hanging holders, and a portable, unitary file holder compatible with standard letter and legal-size hanging file drawers. The file holder includes twin handles for grasping and carrying the file holder, a hanging file rail disposed within the file holder for supporting standard letter-size files, non-slip feet for placing the unitary file holder on any suitable surface, a plurality of divider panels and a file holder bottom portion disposed to receive such panels. A briefcase is provided and is adapted to receive such file holders by hanging and supporting them using means similar to a standard hanging file drawer. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a file holder is provided which is molded of a relatively rigid thermoplastic material.

Abstract: A portable work station that can be folded into a compact unit with the appearance of a briefcase. The unit is designed to give the user the comfort and efficiency of an office environment by providing easy access to supplies used in the course of his or her work. The unit opens up to form a rigid desk top for writing and supporting portable equipment, such as computers, and provides various shelves for holding supplies and work material during use. A set of drawers function as regular desk drawers for storage and access to needed material. During transportation of the unit, the same drawers provide storage like a standard briefcase.

Abstract: A portable electronic equipment, such as a laptop computer, is provided with a handle which is slidably mounted to a body of the equipment. The handle comprises a handle body, a pair of sliding rods, and a pair of guide rails. The body has upper and lower fixing plates integrally formed at right and left ends thereof, with the upper fixing plate being provided with a guide groove and the lower fixing plate being provided with a guide hole. The sliding rods have first pin members which are vertically inserted between the guide grooves in the upper fixing plates and the guide holes in the lower fixing plates and second pin members which are horizontally inserted in guide grooves of the guide rails.

Abstract: A trash recycling container is provided and consists of a plurality of drawers, each hold one type of trash therein and slideable within a front of the cabinet. A mechanism one the cabinet is for transporting the cabinet to a remote location so that the drawers with their different types of trash can be removed allowing the trash to be dumped into separate pails for recycling.

Abstract: To permit combination luggage, table and vanity to have a luggage position, a table position and a vanity position, the combination includes a handle mounted to one of a back side, right side and left side for carrying said combination luggage, table and vanity when in the luggage position. A hinge pivotally connects a rear edge of a top wall to a top edge of the back wall wherein the top wall may lie horizontal when said combination is in the table position and extends vertically when in the vanity position. A hinge pivotally connects a bottom edge of said back wall to a rear edge of said bottom wall and a hinge pivotally connects a front edge of the bottom wall to a bottom edge of said front wall wherein said bottom wall and said front wall are closable in the luggage position but openable to expose a compartment under said bottom wall, whereby a stand and stand legs may be stored in the compartment and to expose drawers in the front which may be used in the vanity position.

Abstract: A closed portable card file comprises a base, cover, retractable carrying handle and a releasable latch to hold the cover closed. The back of the cover is square and extends down behind the back of the base and is hinged near the bottom of the base so that when the card file is in closed condition the back of the cover is approximately perpendicular to the base and when the card file is open, the back of the cover lies approximately in the plane of the base. Hence the card file can stand upright on the back of the cover when closed. When the card file is open and rests on a horizontal surface, the cover stands upright and is retained in open position by its weight. The base has rails for receiving notched cards and guides, and ribs which are parallel to the rails and are of a height to engage lower edges of the cards and guides and thereby reduce wear on the notches which receive the rails.

Abstract: A carrying case for a lap-top model of a personal computer, a portable word processor or the like comprises a generally box-like casing accommodating various electric components therein and having a display panel assembly generally hingedly supported for movement in a direction towards and away from the casing, a foldable handle assembly supported for pivotal movement between concealed and projected positions, and at least one lock mechanism operable to lock the panel assembly in a closed position to the canister. The lock mechanism comprises an engagement member secured to the panel assembly and a releaseable one-piece member including a release button and a pawl member engageable with the engagement member. All necessary support elements to which the handle assembly is fitted are integrally formed with a bottom wall of the casing.

Abstract: A collapsible storage and display device includes a plurality of horizontally stacked bins cooperatively connected by forwardly extending side flanges to provide limited vertical sliding movement between each pair of adjacent bins. The forwardmost bin is anchored to a base. Lifting the rearwardmost bin relative to the base successively causes each bin to rise a predetermined distance and then lift the forwardly adjacent bin until the plurality of bins forms a horizontally stacked, stair-step display position. Pivoting support members are positioned to hold the device in the display position. A transport cover surrounds and protects the device and provides a means for carrying the device.

Abstract: A combined and portable artist's supply box and easel, which includes a permanent easel also serving as a handle by which the device is carried and transported. A second foldable and removable easel is also provided for providing a greater supporting easel surface. The second, removable easel is stored when not used in a special compartment of the device. The device includes other compartments and drawers for the storage of supplies, material, and tools. In a second embodiment, the device is designed for support on a bed for use by bed-ridden and infirm persons in hospitals or homes, or for children.

Abstract: A pair of portable self contained voting booths comprised of main base members which fit together to form a compact carrying case for all of the other components of the two booths including support legs and foldable privacy shields. Each base member has corner sockets for receiving the support legs from below and a recessed central portion that provides storage space for the support legs and shield, when the base members are held together by removable clips in their storage and transporting mode. When erected for use, the base members are separated by release of the clips so that, the support legs and privacy shields for both booths can be quickly installed and set up to provide two voting stations.

Abstract: A rotating pastel storage tabouret has a pyramidal compartmentalized storage tray for storing and organizing pastels. The storage tray is rotatably mounted on a supporting base. In a second embodiment, the storage tray is provided with a plurality of grooves for holding the pastels and a mechanism for adjusting the angle of the storage compartments. A removable lid having a sponge rubber lining is secured to the tabouret by a plurality of spaced resilient clips. In use, the rotating tabouret serves to organize and safely store a large number of artist's pastels.

Abstract: Hand luggage comprising a substantially rectangular shell including two opposed major walls and an open end therebetween. A single rectangular drawer is slidably mounted in the shell. The drawer includes a front wall having a marginal flange that overlaps and completely closes the open end when the drawer is slid to its closed position. A carrying handle is attached outside the luggage to the end wall. Also, there is a means for detachably latching the shell to the drawer when the drawer is in its closed position.

Abstract: A rigid carrying case (20) having a handle and a hinge in the center, is combined with a removable flat top (22) that is attached when opened forming a portable table. Legs (52) are stored within housings (32) located inside of the case (20) and are released by depressing an actuator (64) protruding outside of the case perimeter. The legs (52) cross each other thereby holding them rigidly in place with assistance of a non-slipping resilient bumper (60) on the end of each leg. The housing (32) is attached inside the case (20) with a housing cap (36) on one end and restraining means on the other consisting of a locknut (44), spacer (46), locknut with a lip (48), and an "O" ring (50). A second embodiment adds a separable leg extension (80), and a third embodiment adds length to the legs (52) utilizing a second telescoping leg (82).

Abstract: A cabinet structure for storing a fire extinguisher including an open front box-shaped housing and a cover mountable thereon. Mating recesses in the top wall of the housing and hinge tabs in the top side of the cover cooperate to provide pivotal engagement between the cover and housing and mating flange members on the housing and cover facilitate padlocking of the cover in mounted disposition on the housing. The hinge tabs are breakable in response to the application of a pulling force on a grip formed in the top side of the cover to facilitate emergency access to the cabinet. A peripheral lip and interior tabs on the cover facilitate proper centering of the cover on the housing.

Abstract: A combination tool box and stool that provides a self-contained multiple compartmentalized tool box configuration within an independent structural support case defining a stool independent of the tool box.

Abstract: An improved satchel-style tackle box wherein access to the storage compartments can be had through the upper end or through the front wall of the box. Hence with the box of the present invention, there is no need to turn the box over in order to obtain access to all its storage compartments. The elimination of the need to turn the box over is accomplished by adding a pull out drawer to the lower part of the box. One or more storage compartments are then developed in the box above the drawer storage compartment. The projecting edge around the drawer opening in the box cooperate to prevent the rain water and other casual water from getting into the box, between the drawer and the opening, when the drawer is closed. Novel latches secure the drawer in its closed position and assist in preventing the ingress of water into the drawer. The latches are readily moved out of the way when the drawer is to be opened. A handle is mounted on the front wall of the box to facilitate carrying the box.

Abstract: A storage unit comprising a housing and a sleeve slidable within the housing. The housing has a vertical opening which is divided into slots by a plurality of bar stops. The sleeve has a plurality of shelves with spaces for holding containers which may be placed onto and removed from the shelves when the shelves and bar stops are in registration. When the bar stops and shelves are not aligned, the bar stops block the spaces adjacent to the shelves, and prevent the containers from accidentally being lost or removed from the shelves.

Abstract: A portable carrying case for a printer of a computer system that doubles as an acoustical enclosure and may be converted into a printer stand. The case includes a base and removable cover which are both padded with urethane foam to protect the printer while being carried and to reduce noise during printing. The cover and base also include slots for accommodating bottom or back feed printers. A frame is contained within the base and is removable to elevate the case to convert it into a printer stand.

Abstract: An interlocking box is disclosed. The box has no frame and may have as many horizontally sliding trays as desired. Each tray is slidably interlocked with the tray below (and/or above) and the box includes a unique lock/latch device in one end whereby it is interlockable with vertically adjacent trays, the lock/latch device permitting easy opening to the interior of any selected tray or trays. The box permits selective removal of one or more trays which may themselves be interlocked, with remaining trays also left in interlocked relationship.

Abstract: A portable desk and article carrying structure is disclosed primarily for use by manufacturers representatives, sales people, and the like for carrying the various articles and tools needed for displaying, promoting and selling products. The portable desk and article carrying structure allows such articles to be carried into a store and is demountably positionable on a shopping cart of the type commonly used in grocery stores so as to provide a convenient surface for writing and accomplishing various other tasks at locations within the store.

Abstract: An improved cabinet for storing bolts, screws or the like comprising a framework formed integrally by moulding, and a plurality of drawers which may slide in and out of the framework. The framework includes a number of vertical panels, a plurality of horizontal strips formed on each side of the vertical panels, and two retainers. The top of the framework is formed with raised edges having inclined surface which is configured for engagement by the bottom of another framework. Further, a handle is engaged with the retainers for enabling the cabinet to be carried more conveniently.

Abstract: The present invention in its preferred embodiment, is a circuit board storage apparatus (6) including a clamping mechanism (10) having two jaw handle members (12), and a pair of contact jaw portions (18 and 20) which are held in a hinged juxtaposition by a hinge pin (14). The clamping mechanism (10) is adapted to grasp a printed circuit board (8). The apparatus (6) is further provided with a support and protective structure (30) which includes a pair of parallel rails (32), having notches to support the structure (30) on a frame (50), and a pair of protective sheets (38) for preventing physical abrasion and electrical damage to the circuit board (8). The entire apparatus (6) is adapted to be enclosed in a drawer (60) or cabinet for easy storage of multiple boards (8). The primary usage of the apparatus is in situations where an inventory of circuit boards must be maintained for quick retrieval, primarily in the electronic manufacturing and maintenance industries.

Abstract: A storage and transport container comprises a pair of like housings each having a normally vertical back wall having upright and parallel side edges and horizontal top and bottom edges, a pair of generally parallel side walls extending horizontally in one direction from the side edges, and respective generally parallel top and bottom walls bridging the side walls and extending in one direction from the top and bottom edges. Thus the housing has a front side open in the one direction. At least one horizontally extending partition projects in the one direction from the back wall intermediate the top and bottom walls, bridges the side walls, and forms two housing compartments. The top, side, and bottom walls each have a rear edge attached to the respective edge of the back wall and a front edge spaced in the one direction therefrom. A loop formed generally at the front edge of the top wall and extending upwardly therefrom is generally centered between the side walls.

The desk having a two-section cover, the sections being respectively arranged to be pivoted upward to provide access to the whole of the interior or to a part of the interior.

Abstract: A portable electronic instrument has a front console at which input/output functions are exposed. In order to protect the input/output functions when the instrument is being carried, a cover plate which is mounted to the instrument cabinet can be locked in a position covering the console. To use the instrument, the cover is unlocked and pivots to a position in which it doubles as a stand to space the front end of the instrument from an underlying support surface and to incline the console to the vertical.

Abstract: A portable, self-contained dental operatory is disclosed. The operatory includes all of the equipment necessary for the ordinary practice of dentistry contained in a cabinet that serves both as a compact carrying case and as a chairside dental workbench. The cabinet includes foldable front and top panels that fold outwardly and downwardly to form a dental workbench positioned in front of a tool support panel that supports dental handpieces and other equipment. The cabinet further contains an electric air compressor that supplies pressurized air to drive the handpieces and to provide a source of pressurized water from a water reservoir. The operatory further includes a vacuum bottle that may be selectively evacuated by the air compressor as required to operate an oral saliva evacuator. The air compressor includes an electric motor that can be tapped to drive grinding and polishing equipment.

Abstract: A portable voting booth is pivotally positionable in a compact storage mode and an expanded voting mode. The voting booth comprises a base storage container and a support console pivotally mounted to the container. A voting console having a ballot means is pivotally mounted to the display console. A pair of panels are connected to the voting console in a generally upright voting mode. The base container forms a generally horizontally disposed base support. The support console and voting console are in generally upright relationship with the booth means being rearwardly supported and forming a generally forward overhang structure. Means are also provided to lower the ballot display to a position for access by handicapped voters.

Abstract: A stand supporting ice-cream cones comprises an upper dispensing plate (2) with a plurality of apertures (3), in which the ice-cream cones may be temporarily supported before they are to be carried away. A container (6) is provided beside the dispensing plate (2) and comprises a pile (9) of carriers, whereby each carrier (7) comprises a plurality of apertures and may serve to carrying away the conical objects (4). The carriers may be dispensed one by one from the container (6). Immediately upon the dispensing of each carrier (7), said carrier is situated on the dispensing plate (2), whereafter the ice-cream cones to be supported before the carrying away are situated in the apertures of the carrier and the stand. Because of the container a carrier is always available when one or more ice-cream cones are to be carried away from the stand. A carrier preferably for use in connection with the stand (1) comprises a plate (7) of bendable cardboard with a carrier part.

Abstract: An elongate drawer (2), (FIG. 1) is slidably mounted in a chest of drawers (1) and has compartments for storing small objects, particularly packed goods for drugstores and the like. The bottom of the drawer is formed from two longitudinal halves (3a,3b), which are united along the longitudinal central line (4) of the drawer bottom, to slope from there towards the longitudinal sides (5,6) of the drawer, there being a vertical spinal wall (7) attached to the longitudinal halves (3a,3b) along the longitudinal central line (4) to divide the drawer (2) in its longitudinal direction into two spaces with vertical compartment walls (8).

Abstract: Apparatus is a carrying case, with integral top and bottom case sections. The bottom case section has a working surface for supporting a paper ballot or for pivotably securing a tray for receiving a vote recording device. A latch member secures the recording device on the tray. The bottom case section has a depressed well which externally stores erectable leg members which are integrally connected by an elastic cord to the case section. The top case section has a door which provides access to the recording device or other voting paraphernalia during the stored condition of the apparatus. The access door supports a light fixture internally provided with a test circuit which permits the light fixture to be tested when the apparatus is in stored condition. A defective light or light fixture can be readily removed by opening the access door. The latch member on the tray may be locked to prevent removal of the recording device. The access door has a locking tab which can be locked to the bottom case section.

Abstract: A portable self-contained voting booth has improved features of compactness, lightness of weight, leg-holding stability, durability and convenience in use. Its carrying case includes interior corner members that both provide leg sockets for receiving legs from below and also serve to receive and hold down a vote recorder or board/carrier to which a vote record system may be secured. The unit is very quickly set up and produces a sturdy free-standing voting booth. The booth may also be used for paper ballot voting by simply removing the vote recorder or other voting system carrier from the booth.

Abstract: An article of furniture has one or more drawers in which the two side members are formed at their forward ends with reduced portions which form tenons that engage through and forwardly of vertically disposed mortise apertures adjacent each side edge of the front member. A rod is connected to and supported by the tenons at locations forwardly of the front member, the rod extending parallel to the front member in spaced relationship thereto. The rod forms a handle by which the drawer can be pulled open and pushed closed with the force necessary to open and close the drawer being transmitted directly through the rod to the side members. The rod also functions as a rail on which towels and similar articles can be hung.

Abstract: A portable holder for transporting rolled-up blueprints or other materials. The holder is comprised of at least two elongated hollow tubes fixed together at their ends by front and rear headers. A carrying handle is fixed to one of the tubes to allow a person to easily lift and transport the holder in one hand. The front header is provided with openings aligned with the hollow interior of each tube to allow materials to be inserted into or removed therefrom. The front header may be provided with hinged doors which are secured in the closed position to insure the integrity of the materials within the tubes.Each of the headers may also be provided with projecting fingers and aligned holes on opposite side edges to enable a number of portable holders to be stacked together and held in place by the coaction of mating fingers and holes of adjacent portable holders.

Abstract: A storage lock box is provided for parts such as washers, bolts, nuts and the like. The lock box has an inclined shelf within that is provided with a plurality of holes for storing bolts, while the shelf is closed off by a pivotable cover which has a plurality of pegs for storing washers and nuts, and the like. The pegs of the cover abut against the cover lid of the lock box when the cover lid is closed so that the cover is prevented from rotating, thereby preventing the parts on the pegs of the cover and in the holes of the shelf from falling out of their storage locations during transport of the lock box.

Abstract: A drawer handle can be removably mounted over a drawer front without fasteners or the like. The drawer front has a recessed region to facilitate opening the drawer, and the drawer handle can be snap-locked onto the drawer front to cover the recess and provide an optional means of opening the drawer. The drawer handle is of inverted U-shaped channel configuration including elongated front and rear flanges extending along a narrow base of the channel. The front and rear flanges can be spread apart to facilitate slipping the channel over the drawer front so the base of the channel rests on the upper edges of the drawer front, and the front and rear flanges overlie front and rear faces of the drawer front. The rear flange covers the recess in the drawer front, while the front flange is foreshortened relative to the rear flange and extends across the mid-point of the recess to provide a means for opening the drawer.

Abstract: A tote device for an article, such as a chainsaw, having a main body and a member projecting from one side of the body, comprises a base for supporting the body when at rest. The base is formed with an upwardly open recess configured to receive at least a portion of the body. A scabbard is mountable on the member to enclose and protect at least a portion of it. A first linking arrangement links the scabbard, when mounted on the member, to the base in the region of the one side of the body and a second linking arrangement links the base to the body, when received in the recess, at a location remote from the one side. Accordingly, when the body and member are lifted, the scabbard is also lifted. Further, interaction of the scabbard and body with the base, through the first and second linking arrangements, also lifts the base.

Abstract: A portable article supporting container is provided that allows access to one portion thereof without requiring the entire container to be opened, and when the entire container is opened one portion supports the other for ease of use. First and second container portions are pivotally mounted together for movement from a first position wherein the container is closed, to a second position wherein it is opened. One latch effects latching of the container portions in the closed position while another latch effects latching in the open position. A pair of article supporting plates are provided which are operatively pivotally connected to the container first portion so that the plates may be moved from a first position contained within the volume of the first container portion to a second position wherein they extend outwardly from that volume substantially perpendicular to a plane containing the container first portion.

Abstract: A portable display unit for display of advertising material or other informational or decorative material on changeable display cards and for storage of other display cards. The display unit includes a rectangular box-like housing convertible between a collapsed or closed and portable configuration and an erect or a display configuration supported on a stand. At least one wall of the housing is comprised as a removable panel to expose a picture type frame surrounding a viewing area to be filled by the display card to be viewed. A retractable handle is provided for transport of the unit from place to place in the collapsed or closed configuration.
