Display units are provided to provide information relating to objects stored in the shelving system and to the operation of the shelving system.

  • Patent number: 7237856
Abstract: The shelf as defined by a shelf grating formed of a plurality of first and second groups of wires disposed normal to each other and having ends thereof encapsulated by an injection molded, continuous open encapsulation, rim or border. Preferably, each of four border portions of the border each encapsulate substantially the entirety of one of the wires of the two groups to afford rigidity to the wire shelf. The border includes a Class “A” upper surface between peripheral outboard and inboard parting lines or lines of flash which provides a high degree of aesthetics to the shelf when viewed from above.

Abstract: A method of making a removable refrigerator storage assembly is provided. The method includes feeding a polymeric or metal material into an extruder and directing the material through a die having an aperture with a first and second leg formed therein, thereby forming an intermediate shelf extrusion. The intermediate shelf extrusion is cut into a predetermined length to form the shelf extrusion having a bottom wall integrally formed with a side wall. The shelf extrusion is painted or plated to a specific finish. The method also encompasses attaching to both ends of the shelf extrusion end walls having brackets formed thereon for removably engaging supports formed on the door of a refrigerator.

Abstract: An article retainer assembly for a refrigerator shelf includes a pair of support brackets and a retaining member. The support brackets are preferably mounted to opposing side portions of a compartment liner, with the retaining member extending therebetween and across a front edge section of the refrigerator shelf. The support brackets include corresponding guide tracks having first, second and third portions that correspond to upright, lowered and stowed configurations of the retaining member. In the upright position, the retaining member limiting articles resting upon the shelf from moving beyond the front edge section. In the lowered position, the retaining member is positioned to allow unobstructed access to the articles on the shelf and, in the stowed position, the retaining member is held in place below the shelf.

  • Patent number: 7178890
Abstract: The present invention relates to a shelf height adjuster of a refrigerator. According to the present invention, gear portions 12 are vertically formed on both side surfaces on a refrigerating chamber of the refrigerator. Height adjustment gears 22 which are engaged with the gear portions 12 are rotatably installed in opposite sides of a shelf 20, respectively. Each stopper 30 for regulating the rotation of each height adjustment gear is engaged to the height adjustment gear 22 by means of a spring 32, and thus, it causes the height adjustment gear 22 not to rotate. When the height of shelf is adjusted, the height adjustment gears 22 are made freely rotate by releasing the stoppers 30 from the height adjustment gears 22, and thus, the height of the shelf may be adjusted without taking out the shelf from the refrigerator.

  • Patent number: 6997531
Abstract: A tray apparatus for a refrigerator is provided which optimizes the use of storage space in the refrigerator. A position of the tray within a storage space of the refrigerator is varied through the use of elastic means which moves the tray toward an upper surface of the storage space as an article is stored thereon. The tray is supported by supporting links which are then connected through interlocking links so that they are integrally pivoted. The link mechanisms are supported on the upper surface of the storage space. Thus, a storage article with a relatively large bottom area can be easily stored in the vicinity of the upper surface of the storage space, which is usually out of use, thereby maximizing the use of the storage space in the refrigerator.
