  • Patent number: 6100636
Abstract: A method for forming a conductively coated matrix structure for separating rows and columns of sub-pixels on the faceplate of a flat panel display device. In one embodiment, the present invention deposits a photoresistive material over the interior surface of a faceplate having a non-conductive matrix structure formed thereon. The photoresistive material is deposited into sub-pixel regions separated by the matrix structure. The photoresistive material is dried and exposed in the sub-pixel regions. After unexposed photoresistive material is removed, a layer of aluminum is evaporated over the interior surface of the faceplate such that the matrix structure and the exposed layer of photoresistive material in the sub-pixel regions is coated with a conductive layer of aluminum. Next, the present invention applies an etchant to the exposed photoresistive material disposed in the sub-pixel regions.

  • Patent number: 6097144
Abstract: The present invention provides an inexpensive cathode ray tube envelope which suffers considerably diminished glass browning in comparison with traditional cathode ray tube envelopes. The method of reducing glass browning in cathode ray tubes, and a suitable glass composite and glass composition are also provided. The cathode ray tube envelope of the present invention includes a screen which has an inner and an outer glass layers. The inner layer is made of lead-free glass whereas the outer layer is made of lead-containing glass. In the operational cathode ray tube of the present invention, the electron beams emitted therein, are absorbed by the inner layer without substantial browning, since the inner layer does not contain material that cause browning, and do not penetrate to the lead-containing outer layer. At the same time, the X-rays produced in the cathode ray tube are effectively and efficiently blocked by the lead-containing outer layer.

Abstract: Openings are created in a structure by a process in which a plate is furnished with a sacrificial patterned masking layer divided into multiple laterally separated mask portions. A primary layer of actinic material is provided over the masking layer and in space between the mask portions. Material of the primary layer not shadowed by a mask formed with the mask portions is backside exposed to actinic radiation. Material of the primary layer not exposed to the radiation is removed. Segments of the masking layer not covered by exposed material of the primary layer are then removed. Consequently, openings extend through the primary layer where the segments of the masking layer have been removed. The process is typically employed in forming an optical device such as a flat-panel cathode-ray tube display in which the openings in the primary layer receive light-emissive material.

Abstract: After adhesive resin is applied to a surface of a flat panel, a front panel is glued thereto. One side of the front panel is contacted to the adhesive resin layer with the front panel tilted toward the surface of the flat panel. Then, the front panel is moved slowly to be close and parallel to the front panel. Finally, the front panel is pressed to the surface of the flat panel. Afterward, the adhesive resin is hardened. It is preferable that the thickness of the adhesive resin applied to the surface of the flat panel is decreasing from the side to which the side of the front panel is contacted, to the opposite side. By the above-mentioned method, an image display apparatus having multilayer structure comprising of a flat panel for displaying image, an adhesive resin layer and a front panel can be manufactured efficiently.

  • Patent number: 5907214
Abstract: A cathode ray tube display device including unnecessary radiating magnetic field reducer which improves the ability to reduce an unnecessary radiating magnetic field, especially, generated by a vertical deflection coil. A pair of coil is disposed in opposing relationship on the opposite sides of the ferrite core along an X-axis or in the horizontal direction of the deflection yoke so as to be in contact with an open side end of the ferrite core. Each coil has a shape curved with a predetermined radius of curvature conforming to the shape of the outer peripheral surface of the ferrite core. The ferrite core acts as a magnetic material for the coils which reduces the unnecessary radiating magnetic fields to increase the coil inductances to thereby produce a large extremely low frequency magnetic field (ELMF) reducing effect.
