Abstract: A discharge lamp lighting apparatus includes a capacitor, a charge circuit for charging the capacitor, a switching element, a gate driving circuit that controls ON and OFF states of the switching element, a simmer current supply circuit for passing simmer current through a discharge lamp, a starting circuit that impresses high voltage to a starting electrode, and an electric discharge sequence control circuit that generates the gate signal and the starting signal. When lighting the discharge lamp, a sequence of the gate signal corresponding to an alternating repetition of the ON and OFF states of the switching element is generated. Before outputting the starting signal, the switching element is ON as a stand-by state. Then the sequence starts when the starting signal is outputted.
Abstract: An electro magnetic ballast (110) for a gas discharge lamp (2) comprises: input terminals (3), for receiving a mains voltage; lamp connector terminals (4), for receiving a lamp; a controllable semiconductor switch (26) coupled in parallel to the lamp connector terminals; a current sensor (127) connected in series with the controllable switch (26); and a control circuit (28) for controlling the controllable switch (26) and responsive to the current sensor (127). When operating in a normal mode, the control circuit (28) is responsive to a current sense signal received from the current sensor to switch the controllable switch (26) ON if said current sense signal indicates a current flowing in the controllable switch (26) and to switch the controllable switch (26) OFF if said current sense signal indicates that no current is flowing in the controllable switch (26).
Abstract: A light-emitting diode (LED)-based solid-state device comprises a color mixing mechanism to dynamically change the correlated color temperature (CCT) of a white light. With different lumen proportions for white phosphor-coated LEDs and integrated red and green LEDs, the light mixtures can be located in any one of eight CCT quadrangles. In practice, CCTs of a white-light can be tuned in a continuous manner. Because all the possible light mixtures on the chromaticity diagram correspond to a line segment that overlays the Planckian locus within the eight CCT tolerance quadrangles, the effect of LED intensity fluctuations that may put the mixture out of white light region is reduced. Also, because the two additional LEDs that mix with the white phosphor-coated LEDs contribute to the overall spectral power distribution (SPD) that substantially matches the SPD of standard illuminants, a CRI of 80 can be reached.
Abstract: A receiver that receives a digital signal transmitted on the basis of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) method. This receiver comprises a demodulation unit for demodulating the digital signal, a demapping unit for demapping demodulated data output from the demodulation unit, a frequency deinterleave unit for executing a frequency deinterleaving process on data output from the demapping unit, a delay unit for delaying control information superposed on the digital signal by a prescribed time period, and a time deinterleave unit for executing, on the basis of the interleave length specified by the control information delayed by the delay unit, a time deinterleaving process on data on which the frequency deinterleaving process has been executed.
Abstract: A lighting circuit includes a capacitor and inductor for a resonance, and a first output, a second output, a resistor and a monitor circuit. A DC-AC converting circuit generates an AC voltage from a DC voltage. The resistor has an end connected to the second output and the other end connected to an end of a secondary winding. A monitoring output is connected to the other end of the resistor, and is provided for providing a signal for monitoring a current flowing to a discharge lamp. The end of the resistor is connected to a grounding conductor GND. The monitor circuit receives a signal from the monitoring output. The monitor circuit generates a signal for monitoring a current IL flowing to the discharge lamp.
Abstract: In a field emission electron gun including emitters (104) on predetermined parts of a substrate (409), an insulator film (105) on a remaining part of the substrate, a first gate electrode (101) on the insulator film so as to surround the emitters with a space left between each emitter and the first gate electrode, the emitters are formed on the substrate except a center part of the substrate. The first gate electrode has an inner peripheral surface which defines a hole (107) exposing a center portion of the insulator film that is positioned on the center part of the substrate. A second gate electrode (102) is formed on the insulator film to surround an outer peripheral surface of the first gate electrode with a distance left between the outer peripheral surface of the first gate electrode and the second gate electrode.
