Static Convergence Feature Patents (Class 315/368.24)
  • Patent number: 6982766
Abstract: A projection display uses a matrix of digital correction factors defining deflection correction factors between which linear interpolation is used for intermediate points on the display. A circuit for generating a correction signal to correct image distortion on a display screen, comprises a memory storing displacement values corresponding to spaced points on the screen in a grid of rows and columns. The displacement values of the grid generally define correction curves for correcting the image distortion without introducing significant banded regions on the display screen. An interpolator is coupled to the memory for interpolating intermediate values between adjacent ones of the stored displacement values, and a digital to analog converter is coupled to the interpolator for providing the correction signal.

Abstract: An image distortion compensating apparatus controls a convergence yoke, and includes a compensation value generator for calculating a convergence compensation value for compensating a convergence distortion which occurs while an image signal is emitted onto a display apparatus, the compensation value generator outputting the convergence compensation value after compensating for a phase and a gain of the convergence yoke; an amplifier for D-class amplifying of the convergence compensation value; and a convergence yoke attached to the display apparatus for controlling a path of electron beams corresponding to the image signal, based on the convergence compensation value as amplified at the amplifier.

  • Patent number: 6580206
Abstract: A color display device having an electron gun, a display screen, a color selection electrode and a deflection unit. The distance between the electron beams in the x-direction is dynamically varied, whereby the distance in the deflection space decreases as the beams are deflected in at least one direction. The reduction of the distance enables the distance between the color selection electrode and the display screen to be increased in that direction. As a result, the curvature of the color selection electrode is increased, which has a positive effect on the strength and the doming and microphonic properties of the color selection electrode.
