Patent number: 6522092Abstract: A structure in which first to third diodes cause signal beams which are produced by modulating image signals to be incident upon corresponding first to third light deflection scanning sections. The first to third light deflection scanning sections perform line scanning operations using the incident light signal beams. First to third light amplifiers amplify the light signal beams used for the line scanning to necessary brightnesses. A light-wave synthesizer synthesizes the amplified light signal beams into one light beam. A light post scanning section performs frame scanning using the synthesized light beam in order to project it onto a screen. Accordingly, it is possible to display a highly bright image at a low cost on a large screen that realizes high definition and color reproducibility.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2001Date of Patent: February 18, 2003Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Michihiko Sakurai, Kazuhito Hori, Takuya Makino

Publication number: 20010009353Abstract: The design and manufacturing processes for Hollow Cathode Assemblies (HCA's) that operate over a broad range of emission currents up to 30 Amperes, at low potentials, with lifetimes in excess of 17,500 hours. The processes include contamination control procedures which cover hollow cathode component cleaning procedures, gas feed system designs and specifications, and hollow cathode activation and operating procedures to thereby produce cathode assemblies that have demonstrated stable and repeatable operating conditions, for both the discharge current and voltage. The HCA of this invention provides lifetimes of greater than 10,000 hours, and expected lifetimes of greater than 17,500 hours, whereas the present state-of-the-art is less than 500 hours at emission currents in excess of 1 Ampere.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2000Publication date: July 26, 2001Inventors: Michael J. Patent number: 5898467Abstract: A frame size regulating circuit provides high picture quality to a viewer by regulating a frame width according to a picture brightness signal and pulsewidth modulation signals. The circuit includes a microprocessor for generating pulsewidth modulation signals for respectively regulating horizontal and vertical sizes of the frame according to horizontal and vertical sync signals from the external, and a horizontal-size control signal generator part for generating a horizontal size control signal for regulating the horizontal size according to the first pulsewidth modulation signal of the microprocessor and a picture brightness signal from a flyback transformer.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1996Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: Daewoo Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Sang-Yean Woo

Patent number: 4668893Abstract: An improved pole piece structure for periodic-permanent-magnet focused traveling wave tubes is disclosed. In one embodiment, the pole pieces have two fold symmetry and the magnets are arranged about the tube axis in a pattern with two-fold symmetry. This structure accommodates the input or output waveguides while maintaining the symmetry of the magnet placement. This allows the electron beam to remain centered on the tube axis and, therefore, minimizes beam interception. Circuit heating is reduced and the power handling margin of the tube is increased in comparison to conventional TWT structures. In another embodiment, a triangular pole piece configuration is employed, eliminating displacement of the magnets at the coupler and sever cavities and providing a third cooling channel.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1985Date of Patent: May 26, 1987Assignee: Hughes Aircraft CompanyInventor: Kurt Amboss
