Patent number: 12212201Abstract: A cooling system is provided. Coil ends protrude outward from a first end of a stator core in a direction along a central axis. An imaginary straight line is orthogonal to both of a central axis of a core body and an axis extending in an up-down direction. Half the coil ends above the imaginary straight line are in a first portion. Each of the segment coils in the first portion includes an outer peripheral surface that faces in a direction opposite from the central axis. The outer peripheral surface of each of the segment coils includes a twisted surface. The direction in which the twisted surface faces becomes closer to the direction facing the stator core as the twisted surface extends toward the first end of the stator core.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2022Date of Patent: January 28, 2025Assignee: TOYOTA JIDOSHA KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Masashi Matsumoto, Kohei Watanabe, Hiroshi Inano, Hazuki Kawamura, Tomoyuki Sawada

Publication number: 20120001545Abstract: An LED light bulb device including a bulb body, a cap and an LED assembly. The bulb body defines an exterior surface and an interior. The cap is mounted to the bulb body, combining to define a light bulb-like structure. The LED assembly includes a substrate, LEDs, transformer circuitry and connective circuitry. The LEDs and the connective circuitry are maintained by the substrate, with the connective circuitry electrically connecting the LEDs and the transformer circuitry. The transformer circuitry is adapted to modify incoming power for powering the LEDs. The LED assembly is mounted to the light bulb-like structure such that the LEDs are disposed along the exterior surface of the bulb body, with light from the LEDs being directed inwardly into the interior and then outwardly from the interior. The LED assembly can further include a heat sink body encompassing the LEDs.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 6, 2011Publication date: January 5, 2012Applicant: FOREVER BULB, LLCInventors: David W. Patent number: 4574223Abstract: A lag ballast for a high intensity discharge lamp includes a transformer providing voltage at either of two levels. Triacs tied to the transformer supply current at the desired voltage level through either of two inductances. The triacs are controlled by a comparison circuit so that a low voltage and high current are supplied to the lamp during startup and a lower current and higher voltage are supplied as the lamp approaches its normal operating temperature.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1984Date of Patent: March 4, 1986Assignee: HID Systems, Inc.Inventor: Ira J. Patent number: 4349768Abstract: A method for starting and operating a preheat type fluorescent lamp includes a source of alternating current, a fluorescent lamp having a low impedance starting mode wherein current passes through one or more starting filaments and a high impedance operating mode wherein current passes through the length of the lamp, a starting switch directing current through the starting filaments in the lamp starting mode, and an inductor ballast having a magnetically permeable core operating in a saturated condition when the lamp is in the low impedance starting mode and in a non-saturated condition when the lamp is in the high impedance operating mode.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1980Date of Patent: September 14, 1982Assignee: Creators, Inc.Inventor: Jack V. Patent number: 4311942Abstract: A compact fluorescent lamp with a screw-in plug to fit conventional screw sockets which operates at 20-30 watts and provides the lumen output of a 75-100 watt lamp. The lamp is essentially a hollow cylinder with a glass envelope for the two outer walls. The space between the two outer walls is partitioned to constrain the arc discharge to follow a designated path around the inner surface of the lamp. Efficiency is promoted by novel ballast design. The screw-in fluorescent lamp contains a coil in the center of the lamp which creates a diverging magnetic field which causes the arc discharge to spread and may also serve the dual purpose of limiting arc current. Arc spreading coils of several designs are disclosed to provide oriented diverging magnetic fields, rotating diverging magnetic fields and magnetic fields shaped to the lamp envelope with which they are employed.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1979Date of Patent: January 19, 1982Assignee: Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp.Inventors: S. Patent number: 4187447Abstract: Spurious electromagnetic radiation from an electrodeless fluorescent lamp having a phosphor-coated, globular glass envelope containing an ionizable gas surrounding at least a portion of a toroidal magnetic core is reduced by situating a conductive loop about the envelope such that the loop and core planes are normal to each other. The loop also acts as the harp for a lampshade. Radio frequency energy, coupled into the gas from the core to ionize and excite the gas to emit ultraviolet radiation and thus stimulate visible radiation from the phosphor, also radiates from the lamp. The loop, driven by the radiated radio frequency energy, creates an opposing electromagnetic field. Cancellation of the radiated radio frequency energy thus tends to occur at a distance from the lamp, sharply reducing electromagnetic interference from the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1978Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Virgil L. Stout, John M. Anderson

Patent number: 4187445Abstract: A solenoidal electric field lamp comprises a plurality of toroidal ferrite cores connected to a radio frequency energy source and disposed in an ionizable gas. The cores are so connected and oriented that circulating discharge currents passing through each core produce magnetic dipole fields which tend to cancel one another. Near and far field electromagnetic interference is thus reduced even when the lamp is operated at higher, more efficient frequencies. The cores are disposed in a variety of configurations.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1978Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: John M. Houston

Patent number: 4178535Abstract: A fluorescent lampholder fitting has a preheat type circular fluorescent lamp with its ends in proximity and having a first end provided with a starting filament with a first and second filament terminal wire, and a second end provided with a second starting filament with a first and second filament terminal wire. A male screw base electrical connector extends axially along the lamp circle centerline from a housing which supports the lamp in a plane normal to the axis of the screw base. The screw base is provided with three electrical input connections which are adapted to be used in a three-way lampholder of a portable lamp or light fixture. A lamp starter is connected between the first lamp filament and the second lamp filament.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1978Date of Patent: December 11, 1979Inventor: Jack V. Miller
