  • Patent number: 7071647
Abstract: A navigation apparatus has a movable face that is allowed to move bidirectionally between a retracted state and an extended state. A range of movement of the movable face is divided at a predetermined position, so that the movement of the movable face has an initial extending stage or initial retracting stage, and a stage subsequent to the initial extending stage or initial retracting stage. A controlling system for driving and controlling the movable face moves the movable face at a lower speed in the subsequent stage than in the initial extending stage or initial retracting stage. Furthermore, a hazard detecting time for the subsequent stage is chosen to be shorter than a hazard detecting time for the initial extending stage or initial retracting stage. Accordingly, the movable face is moved quickly and smoothly in the initial stage while improving safety in the subsequent stage.

  • Patent number: 6452353
Abstract: Method of detecting obstructions encountered by a motorized door. The method includes providing a signal processor with one or more signals indicative of a predetermined door trajectory profile for at least a segment of a stroke of the door, the door trajectory profile providing an ideal speed and/or position versus an elapsed time since a beginning of the segment of the stroke. A door position signal from a position encoder for the door is received into the signal processor. The method includes generating one or more signals indicative of the velocity and/or position of the door from the door position signal and generating a trajectory discrepancy signal based on the velocity and/or position in relation to the ideal speed and/or position. A motor control signal is generated based on the trajectory discrepancy signal and the motor control signal is connected to motor control circuits connected to drive the motor for the door.

  • Patent number: 6448726
Abstract: An electronically commutated motor has a rotor and a stator interacting with one another. A semiconductor control member controls a motor current supplied to the stator. An arrangement is provided that detects values of the motor current which surpass a preset threshold value and generates a first signal upon surpassing the threshold value. An arrangement is provided that determines rotational speed values of the motor, which surpass a preset rotational speed, and generates a second signal upon surpassing the preset rotational speed. An arrangement is provided that combines the first and second signals for generating a combined signal, wherein the combined signal acts substantially without temporal delay on the semiconductor control member and reduces the motor current to a value which is greater than zero.

  • Patent number: 6445152
Abstract: Method of controlling a motorized door by offloading the burden to a separate motion control processor. The method includes generating, in a central processor for the door, one or more signals indicative of a predetermined door speed profile for a stroke of the door. The predetermined door speed profile provides an ideal velocity versus an elapsed time since a beginning of the stroke. The signals are communicated to a motion control processor and the motion control processor also receives door position signals from a position encoder. The motion control processor generates signals indicative of the velocity of the door based on the door position signals and it generates error signals based on discrepancies between the velocity of the door and the ideal velocity. It generates motor control signals based on the error signals and the motor control signals are communicated to the motor of the door.

  • Patent number: 6445151
Abstract: In a controller for a motor-driven power steering mechanism, a motor control section outputs to a drive circuit a control signal corresponding to a torque command output from a torque calculation section. A digital signal processor receives the control signal, calculates an average of values of the control signal during a predetermined period of time, and outputs the average to an anomalous-state monitor section. The anomalous-state monitor section counts the number of times the average deviates from an allowable range. When the number of times has reached a predetermined number, the anomalous-state monitor section judges that the controller has come into an anomalous-state, and outputs a control prohibition signal to the motor control section.

  • Patent number: 6252363
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic circuit that interrupts the application of electrical power to a motor after a predetermined period of time. The electronic circuit is disposed between a motor which drives a device from an initial position to a final position and a switch movable from a first position to a second position. A battery which supplies the electrical power for the motor is engaged with the switch. The control circuit includes at least two energy storage devices. Depending on the position of the switch, one of the energy storage devices will be fully charged by the battery source. Altering the position of the switch will cause the fully charged energy storage device to begin its discharge and the alternate energy storage device will be “instantly” charged. During the time that both energy storage devices have a significant charge on them, a control signal is generated.
