  • Patent number: 7486066
Abstract: The present invention aims to obtain a stable output voltage without requiring an extra circuit by suppressing influence of noise of the primary winding and voltage induction by leakage inductance. In a transformer 3 used in a multi-output switching power supply, a secondary winding S1 for outputting a voltage to be fed back to the primary side out of the secondary windings S2 to Sn winded on a bobbin 3a is divided into a first layer S1a and a second layer S1b, a secondary winding S2 to Sn for outputting a voltage not fed back to the primary side is winded between the first layer S1a and the second layer S1b, and the first layer S1a and the second layer S1b is regular winded.

  • Patent number: 5907236
Abstract: A resonance tapped transformer circuit in which the effective turns ratio of the transformer is dependent on the frequency of the input signal. The transformer selectively connects one or more primary coils of the transformer in series and/or in parallel where the connection type is dependent on the line frequency. This changes the transformation ratio of the transformer.

  • Patent number: 5001623
Abstract: A power supply which automatically adapts to different input power sources. A double pole, double throw, latching relay switches the primaries of the rectifier transformer to a series or to a parallel configuration depending upon the output voltage of the rectifier, thus adapting the circuit to either a nominal 220 VAC source or a nominal 120 VAC source. The control circuit also derives power from the rectifier transformer and is designed to operate even under the worst possible undervoltage or overvoltage conditions. The additional choice of 24 VDC power is available by the use of a diode OR circuit. When a 24 VDC source is connected to the DC input, it is also connected to the rectifier output through a diode, so that power is furnished to the load by whichever source has the higher voltage. In this configuration, a battery pack can be connected to the DC input to supply automatic backup power.

  • Patent number: 4937731
Abstract: An automatic input switching circuit for a power supply includes a transformer with two primary windings, normally connected in series and connectible in parallel by relay contacts for operation in a doubler mode. The secondary winding supplies a rectifier for developing a DC output voltage and a voltage doubler for developing a higher voltage than the output voltage. The voltage doubler charges a capacitor that stores energy for operating the relay when a transistor switch is closed. The transistor switch is normally held in a nonconductive state by an inhibit transistor driven from a comparator that switches states when the voltage across the capacitor reached a predetermined level. A voltage sensing arrangement compares the rectifier output voltage with a reference voltage and when it reaches a certain level, another comparator switches states to activate a disable transistor.
