  • Patent number: 9417291
Abstract: The present invention is directed, in part, to an apparatus and methods thereof that effectively allow the testing, detection and identification of non-functioning light bulbs used in typical string lighting assemblies set up in series. The invention creates a circuit that determines whether there is a damaged bulb in holiday or occasion lighting assemblies by employing use of a power source, such as for example, a 9-volt battery, two wire leads and two terminals that create an electrical circuit when the terminals are attached to the lighting assembly wiring by means of the terminals. When the test kit is attached and the bulbs fail to illuminate, a user is thereby informed that a bulb within that series is damaged or otherwise non-functional. By further narrowing the number of bulbs tested, the kit allows the user to identify the damaged bulb and replace the bulb quickly and easily.

  • Patent number: 8618794
Abstract: A system for detecting inductive objects includes an inductive sensor circuit for detecting changes in an electromagnetic field (“EMF”) environment and an integrated circuit (“IC”) device. The inductive sensor circuit generates an oscillating analog waveform with an envelope that indicates changes in the EMF environment. The oscillating waveform is coupled to the digital input pin of the IC. A digital interface circuit in the IC is coupled to the digital input pin and is configured for detecting if the oscillating waveform exceeds high and low threshold voltage levels. The detecting results in a digital pulse which represents changes in the EMF environment. In another implementation, a timer input capture pin can be used to detect the waveform envelope decay by storing the time when the waveform crosses a threshold value during a time period. A reduced capture time after the time period expires indicates a change in the EMF environment.

Abstract: A method and system of remotely monitoring an operational status of electronic discharge devices in an air purification system senses emitted radiation at a location proximate the air purification system, alone or in combination with a determination of an amount of time remaining in an operational lifetime of the electronic discharge device, or an amount of power delivered to at least one of the electronic discharge devices. A determination of the operational status of at least one of the electronic discharge devices is made based on at least emitted radiation, and the status information is transmitted to a remote monitoring unit that receives the status information and displays an indicator of operational status. In one embodiment, the operational status of a UV-C germicidal lamp may be monitored using optically sensitive devices located within a purification system.

Abstract: An identification system for a light radiation source (103) having a control circuit (107) for communicating with an identification circuit (108) associated with the light radiation source, wherein the identification circuit is arranged for storing data relating to the light radiation source. During operation, the control circuit communicates with the identification circuit via a signal path comprising at least a portion of a first electric wire (112) provided for energizing the light radiation source such that it is used as a first transmitting antenna for communicating with the identification circuit. The operation of the light radiation source is controlled in dependence on the data retrieved from the identification circuit. Depending on the result of the identification, operation of the light radiation source can be authorized or prevented, thus blocking the use of an incorrect radiation source for a given application.
