  • Patent number: 9417291
Abstract: The present invention is directed, in part, to an apparatus and methods thereof that effectively allow the testing, detection and identification of non-functioning light bulbs used in typical string lighting assemblies set up in series. The invention creates a circuit that determines whether there is a damaged bulb in holiday or occasion lighting assemblies by employing use of a power source, such as for example, a 9-volt battery, two wire leads and two terminals that create an electrical circuit when the terminals are attached to the lighting assembly wiring by means of the terminals. When the test kit is attached and the bulbs fail to illuminate, a user is thereby informed that a bulb within that series is damaged or otherwise non-functional. By further narrowing the number of bulbs tested, the kit allows the user to identify the damaged bulb and replace the bulb quickly and easily.

  • Patent number: 8618794
Abstract: A system for detecting inductive objects includes an inductive sensor circuit for detecting changes in an electromagnetic field (“EMF”) environment and an integrated circuit (“IC”) device. The inductive sensor circuit generates an oscillating analog waveform with an envelope that indicates changes in the EMF environment. The oscillating waveform is coupled to the digital input pin of the IC. A digital interface circuit in the IC is coupled to the digital input pin and is configured for detecting if the oscillating waveform exceeds high and low threshold voltage levels. The detecting results in a digital pulse which represents changes in the EMF environment. In another implementation, a timer input capture pin can be used to detect the waveform envelope decay by storing the time when the waveform crosses a threshold value during a time period. A reduced capture time after the time period expires indicates a change in the EMF environment.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for driving display devices and to a display device that is provided with a driver circuit. The invention also relates to a method of testing driver circuits. Driver circuits of this kind have a decisive effect on the quality of the display devices. Therefore, in order to ensure a good quality, the driver circuit must be extensively tested, that is, with an as short as possible test time and using as few means as possible. In order to make such a test possible, a device for driving the display devices is provided with M leads that are coupled to AN output stages that are provided with at least one multiplex device (4) and at least one amplifier unit (5), the M leads being coupled to a first switching device (2) that enables the interruption of a voltage supply to the M leads, and at least one second switching device (3) being provided in at least one output stage (AN) in order to switch the output stage (AN) to a selectable potential.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for examining Plasma Display Panel (PDP) electrodes using frequency characteristics, which can rapidly examine the PDP electrodes for defects and detect the positions thereof using frequency characteristics of signals passing through the PDP electrodes in the PDP. In the present invention, a ground plane is formed so that it does not directly come into contact with a plurality of target electrodes, and a transmission line is added to come into contact with one of the ends of the plural target electrodes. Thereafter, an examination signal having a plurality of different frequency signals which linearly vary is applied to one end of the transmission line. Peak values according to frequencies of an output signal output from the other end of the transmission line are detected and the detected output wave characteristics are analyzed, thus determining whether defects of the PDP electrodes exist.
