Patent number: 11729894Abstract: An apparatus including an X-ray tube is provided. The X-ray tube can include a cathode and an input receptacle coupled to the cathode. The input receptacle can include a connector configured within the input receptacle. The connector can operatively couple the cathode and the input receptacle. The connector can include at least one circuit configured to receive an input signal via the input receptacle. The input signal can be between 20 kV and 400 kV. The input signal can be received as an auxiliary supply voltage. The at least one circuit can be configured to generate an output signal indicative of at least one operational characteristic of the X-ray tube. Related systems, and methods of use are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2020Date of Patent: August 15, 2023Assignee: Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations LLCInventors: Reinhard Friedemann, Farid Aslami, Andreas Schmitt

Patent number: 10114105Abstract: A transmitter device transmits an ultrasonic signal encoding a binary identifier. Each bit position in the identifier is associated with a pair of frequencies and with first and second time positions in the signal. The bit value determines which of the pair of frequencies is transmitted at the first time position, with the other being transmitted at the second time position. A receiver device receives the signal. Each bit position of the identifier is decoded based on the strength of the received signal at (a) the first frequency and first time position associated with the particular bit position, (b) the associated first frequency and second time position, (c) the associated second frequency and first time position, and (d) the associated second frequency and second time position. The decoded identifier is used to determine information relating to the position of a mobile one of the devices.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2013Date of Patent: October 30, 2018Assignee: Sonitor Technologies ASInventors: Wilfred Edwin Booij, Oystein Haug Olsen

Patent number: 7285915Abstract: An electron gun. The electron gun includes an RF cavity having a first side with an emitting surface and a second side with a transmitting and emitting section. The gun also includes a mechanism for producing an oscillating force which encompasses the emitting surface and the section so electrons are directed between the emitting surface and the section to contact the emitting surface and generate additional electrons and to contact the section to generate additional electrons or escape the cavity through the section. A method for producing electrons.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2001Date of Patent: October 23, 2007Inventors: Frederick Michael Mako, William Kalman Peter

Publication number: 20030184357Abstract: The invention relates to a triode type cathode structure comprising a cathode assembly composed of a cathode electrode (33), a layer of electron emitting material (34) and a resistive layer (36) inserted between the cathode electrode (33) and the layer of electron emitting material (34) to connect them together electrically, the structure also comprising a grid electrode (35) separated from the said cathode assembly by a layer of electrical insulation (31). The cathode electrode (33) and the layer of electron emitting material (34) are arranged one at the side of the other.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 19, 2003Publication date: October 2, 2003Applicant: COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUEInventors: Jean Dijon, Adeline Fournier, Brigitte Montmayeul, Aime Perrin

Patent number: 5780971Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating radiation of high power, variable duration and broad tunability over several orders of magnitude from a laser-ionized gas-filled capacitor array. The method and apparatus convert a DC electric field pattern into a coherent electromagnetic wave train when a relativistic ionization front passes between the capacitor plates. The frequency and duration of the radiation is controlled by the gas pressure and capacitor spacing.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1994Date of Patent: July 14, 1998Assignees: Univ. of So. Patent number: 5563555Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for generating a very fast electron pulse (30) in a vacuum. The electron source comprises a pulse-forming line (12), a solid-state switch (14), a cold field-emitting cathode (16), and an anode grid (18). The anode grid forms a portion of a side of an evacuated circuit (20) that may be used to produce an oscillating output signal or that may be a portion of a waveguide carrying an rf signal to be amplified. In operation, the pulse-forming line is charged to a desirable voltage. The solid-state switch is then closed, coupling the pulse-forming line to the cathode. An electric field develops between the cathode and anode grid. Under the influence of the electric field, the cathode emits an electron current pulse that is attracted by the anode grid. The current pulse enters the region between the anode and closure grids, and interacts with the electromagnetic field in the cavity at the appropriate time to add its energy to the electromagnetic field of the cavity.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: October 8, 1996Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Ervin J. Nalos, James C. Axtell
