Level (i.e., Surveyor's Type) Patents (Class 33/290)
  • Patent number: 4333242
Abstract: An apparatus including a source of a coherent light beam of low divergence for quickly and simultaneously establishing a plurality of reference lines or planes for use in leveling, squaring, plumbing, and other alignment functions and for controlling the operation of construction equipment is disclosed. The apparatus includes feet for supporting the housing on a surface, the feet being attached to the housing through an alignment and leveling device that permits adjustment of the orientation of the housing relative to the surface. The alignment and leveling device may be controlled in part by a pair of level vials which, when the feet support the housing on a substantially horizontal surface, have substantially horizontal axis that are perpendicular to one another. The level vials actuate a motor drive servomechanism that adjusts that housing relative to the surface until the axis of each level vial is horizontal.

  • Patent number: 4333244
Abstract: A level and support made up of two spaced tripods each having a bracket supporting one end of the level. Each bracket has a rifle sight on it which can be aligned with the other end on a distant object to establish the level thereof. In a separate embodiment a single level has a double bracket arrangement on it with two clamps each having a rifle sight which can be sighted onto distant objects.

  • Patent number: 4198759
Abstract: An optical plummet azimuth reference assembly having a rigid, horizontal support containing a centerline inscribed therein and a pair of upstanding elements mounted on the support located at each end of the centerline. Each upstanding element has a vertical reticle co-planar with the centerline and a horizontal reticle, the vertical and horizontal reticles forming a cross therebetween. By mounting the azimuth reference assembly directly on an optical plummet with the centerline of the azimuth reference assembly co-planar with the centerline reticle of the optical plummet, the azimuth reference line of an object aligned with the centerline reticle of the optical plummet can be accurately and quickly ascertained.

  • Patent number: 4031629
Abstract: A novel apparatus for establishing a reference plane or a line comprising a laser beam with means for rotating the beam to establish a plane and including a bracket mechanism which can be attached to the ceiling or a wall so as to support the laser mechanism so that it can be adjusted in a number of directions to allow its height, and its angular relationship to be set to any desired values.
