  • Patent number: 5361504
Abstract: A universal guide for an electric drill includes a transparent elongated L-shaped member with two mutually perpendicular faces. Each face has two parallel long edges and two short edges, and they share a common long edge. For each face, one of the two short edges is a perpendicular edge and the other of the two short edges is an angled edge in which the perpendicular edges are perpendicular to the long edges, and the common edge is formed such that the perpendicular edges are mutually adjacent to each other and the angled edges are mutually adjacent to each other. Magnetic areas are formed on surfaces of each of the faces. Level indicators are attached to each face perpendicular to the common long edge and to the common long edge in a direction perpendicular to the perpendicular level indicators. At least one long edge is ruled and guide lines are marked on the faces in a direction parallel to the long edges.

  • Patent number: 5263260
Abstract: A device and method for facilitating the installation of fascia materials such as tile on bathtub walls, fireplace facings and feature walls includes a support member with arms that extend so as to fit between facing side walls and be self supporting. The support member contains spring loaded arms that are activated by the push of a button and are locked into position against the side walls. Side bar members are attached to the support member and leveled for installation of tile on the facing walls of a bathtub or shower stall. The support member and side bar members have spirit levels attached for an accurate and quick leveling adjustment. Fascia material designs such as tile patterns are centered by the use of calibrated scales on the arms activated to extend and lock against the side walls. By attaching a second support member to the support member, the device is configured for use in setting fireplace facing tiles.

  • Patent number: 5154000
Abstract: A conduit bending plane and bend angle indicator having a clamp mounting, an anti-dog bubble level to indicate the bend of plane, and an angle bubble level to indicate the bend angle. The invention further features a ratchet connection between the anti-dog bubble level and the clamp mounting to enable the anti-dog bubble level to be referenced at level without having to rotate the conduit to level. A second ratchet connection is also provided which allows the angle bubble level to be set plumb so as to accurately indicate the bend angle without having a first level the conduit along its longitudinal axis. Thus, the disclosed invention provides a quick and easy device to indicate the bending plane and bend angle of conduit being bent without requiring additional adjustments to the conduit once the device is mounted to it.

  • Patent number: 4893413
Abstract: The present invention discloses apparatus and method for centering the steering wheel of a vehicle prior to alignment of the vehicle wheels using a wheel aligner. A portion of the apparatus is mounted to the vehicle steering wheel for sensing deviation in the position of the steering wheel from a centered position. This portion of the apparatus can be mounted on vehicle steering wheels having different configurations and can wirelessly transmit signals corresponding to the deviations. The apparatus can be used with differently configured steering wheels by virtue of a linked cam assembly in which rotation of either of a pair of cams causes rotation of the other cam in an opposite direction of equal magnitude. In operation, the deviation in the position of the steering wheel from a centered position with a pre-selected tolerance is determined. When the deviation is greater than the pre-selected tolerance, alignment of the vehicle wheels by the wheel aligner is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4092882
Abstract: The invention is a water closet flange wrench and puller comprising a base element having alignment means on each end, and having a pair of line-up studs which are attached to the bottom surface of said base element and are slideable engageable with the respective bolt head receiving slots in the water closet flange. The line-up studs are aligned with the axis of the water closet flange bolt head receiving slots, and the head element engages the bolt head receiving slots allowing the flange to be rotated in the clockwise or counterclockwise direction or to be pulled from the soil pipe. The base element contains a means of indicating the alignment of the water closet flange bolt head receiving slots for proper mating with a water closet. The water closet flange wrench and puller has a handle attached to the top surface of the base element to facilitate rotating the water closet flange for proper alignment and to pull an improperly aligned water closet flange from a soil pipe.

  • Patent number: 3988839
Abstract: A gauge for measuring the angle of attack, or incidence of a wing or horizontal stabilizer-elevator on a model aircraft is described. The gauge comprises an L-shaped angle beam having a gravity-type angular indicator mounted on its shorter arm. Slidably mounted on the longer arm is a trailing edge reference block having a notch facing inwardly toward a similar notch in the shorter arm of the angle beam. In measuring the angle of incidence the model aircraft is stabilized in one position and the notch in the shorter arm of the angle beam is placed against the leading edge of the wing and the trailing edge reference block is slid forward along the longer arm of the angle beam until the notch in the reference block is secured against the trailing edge of the wing. The relative incidence of the wing may then be read from the indicator.

  • Patent number: 3950860
Abstract: A building block laying level indicating device adapted for use with a building block of general rectangular configuration wherein the block has a top and a bottom, front and rear walls and end faces. The front and rear walls of the block are connected by webs spaced from each other to provide a plurality of holes extending from the top through the bottom. The device has a planar base with three support members mounted thereon which are adapted to rest on the top of the block. A level indicating means is mounted on the base for visually indicating the level condition of the block. A positioning member is affixed to the planar base and extends downwardly therefrom so as to maintain the level in operating position when placed on the building block.
