  • Patent number: 8826555
Abstract: A self-supporting story pole eliminates the need to build leads with a level and improves on current systems by using a self-supporting base that only needs to be anchored at one point, rather than two, and can preset the block height and plumb of the wall by using the mounting base system. Mounting hardware that slides on the pole is used for string alignment and also for eliminating flex in the pole by means of a follower guide. The system of the present invention is fast to set up and is designed to be away from the corner for the purpose of tooling the joints.

  • Patent number: 6513286
Abstract: A tool for hanging fascia board includes three parts. A first part consists of a t-bar having two pieces attached perpendicularly together and designed to be removably mounted on the end of a rafter board with the flat elongated member lying against a side wall of the rafter and with a portion of the second perpendicular member overlying the top of the rafter and removably affixed to it through the use of nails driven through openings in the second perpendicular member. A support hanger is pivotably mounted to the t-bar and has a slot sized and configured to slidably receive a fascia board. A depth adjuster is mounted on the support hanger and may be reciprocated and fixed in a desired position to adjust the depth of the slot of the support hanger. Thus, the depth of the slot may be adjusted to facilitate attachment of fascia boards of varying dimensions such as, for example, 2×4, 2×6, 2×8, 2×10, and 2×12.

  • Patent number: 5761876
Abstract: An apparatus and the method of using the apparatus to form a wall. Initially, a pair of vertical wall guides are mounted upright at selected locations. The guides are made in two parts, a front guide and a rear guide, so the guides can be moved toward and away from each other to compensate for uneven walls and thicknesses of stone. Staves or forming boards are mounted horizontally between the wall guides by threaded bolts, to form a guide for the stones. The stones are set sequentially in a horizontally disposed course using the staves as a guide to lay the wall straight and level. Additional staves are fixed to the guides as necessary. Once, it is determined that a particular row of stones has set, its restraining stave can be removed. This action usually starts at the bottom course and moves upward until all staves are removed.

  • Patent number: 5542187
Abstract: An alignment assembly and method is provided. The alignment assembly is located adjacent to one end of a structure to be erected, and cooperates with a like assembly located adjacent to an opposite end of the structure for vertically aligning a surface of the structure as it is being erected. The alignment assembly includes a base having first and second spaced-apart legs for being driven into a supporting surface, and a web for interconnecting the first and second legs and maintaining the legs in spaced-apart relation. An upright is removably attached to the web, and extends vertically upwardly between the first and second legs of the base. A guide line is secured to the upright, and extends laterally from the first alignment assembly to the second alignment assembly. The guide line is moveable vertically along the upright to maintain the surface of the structure in vertical alignment as the structure is being erected.

  • Patent number: 4995167
Abstract: A novel masonry tool kit that enables masons to plumb their work quickly and easily which saves time and money. The invention consists of two vertical members or story poles which operate in two systems. One system is used for outside corners and the other for inside corners. The vertical members or story poles have markings to save time so brick courses will be pre-gauged which prevents uneven courses on the wall. The lower L shaped members give stability so that the masonry line can be pulled tight and true with no movement. The masonry guide provides a simplified method of insuring accuracy with quality craftsmanship in masonry work. This masonry tool kit eliminates the need to shim or build a lead at the top of the foundation inside or outside corners as the lower L shaped members secure the vertical member or story pole in the correct position.

  • Patent number: 4932134
Abstract: An adjustable foundation locating device used to position or locate forms and trenches needed for pouring concrete foundations. The device uses a horizontal member which is supported by a stake driven into the ground. The horizontal member may be moved up or down the stake until it is located at a desirable height and then secured in place by tightening a bolt threaded into a bracket attached to the horizontal member. Sleeve members may be slid back and forth along the longitudinal length of the horizontal member until they are properly located and then secured in place by tightening bolts threaded into the sleeve members. Strings may then be tied to the sleeve members and pulled taut between two devices located at opposite ends of a trench needed for a concrete foundation. The strings may then be used as guides to position or locate the trench or a concrete form needed for pouring the concrete foundation. A stabilizing member may be used to help secure the horizontal member to the stake.

  • Patent number: 4733476
Abstract: A synthetic brick wall facing on an existing wall is made by applying to the degreased wall an aqueous acrylic resin emulsion which when dry is then coated with an aqueous creamy mixture of portand cement, lime and perlite. Horizontal scoring of the cementitious wall surface to simulate bricks is accomplished by nailing to the wall two vertical guides having slots, inserting a straight member into selected slots and scoring horizontally along the upper edge of the straight member. The vertical guide comprises two sections of identical construction which nest in one another and are detachably connected by a bolt extending through pre-formed holes.
