Patent number: 7263922Abstract: A fence for guiding a work surface past a saw blade supported by a table having a support tube running substantially perpendicular to the saw blade. The fence includes a rip fence having a plurality of studs disposed on opposing sides thereof. A pair of fence faces are positioned on opposing sides of the rip fence and have a plurality of slots for removably engaging the studs thereby securing the face fences to the rip fence. A rip fence head is affixed beneath the rip fence. A lockdown clasps the support tube with the rip fence head for securing the fence to the tablesaw. The lockdown includes an adjustment mechanism for stabilizing the fence to the support tube independently of the lockdown. The adjustment mechanism is adjustable relative to the lockdown so that the position of the fence on the support tube can be accurately adjusted by moving the fence relative to the lockdown mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2004Date of Patent: September 4, 2007Assignee: HTC Products, Inc.Inventors: Timothy Hewitt, Michael Ursell

Patent number: 7246446Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for constructing and operating an adjustable guide rail for hand tools, by attaching an elongated blade to a guide with a locking ratcheting apparatus. The locking ratcheting apparatus is thumb-operable. The elongated blade includes a first series of teeth. The guide includes the moveable thumb-operable latch. The latch has a second series of teeth which are selectively moveable into and out of engagement with the first series of teeth on the elongated blade for selectively preventing and allowing sliding movement of the elongated blade with respect to the guide. The teeth allow incremental adjustment of the guide rail apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2005Date of Patent: July 24, 2007Assignee: Nomis, LLCInventor: Edward Adkins

Patent number: 5271305Abstract: A support assembly includes a base having end edges along which extend toothed racks for engagement of a clamping bar having meshing detents on its end portions, the clamping bar providing a guide track for a DIY mat cutter. The base is invertible to present English system and metric system distance-measuring features on its opposite side surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1992Date of Patent: December 21, 1993Assignee: The Fletcher-Terry CompanyInventors: Alan R. Peters, Vincent T. Kozyrski

Patent number: 5058285Abstract: A template includes a reference panel for bringing the center of a figure to be drawn into exact alignment with the center of a previously drawn figure. The reference panel, when used in combination with a figure panel having figure holes, allows concentric figures to be drawn accurately.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1990Date of Patent: October 22, 1991Assignee: Yoshitake Seisakujo Co., Inc.Inventors: Shiro Morita, Kazuo Yoshitake

Patent number: 4790077Abstract: A ruler for fixed-distance movement which includes a guide member provided at one end of a linear ruler section and slidable at a specified angle along a guide section of a base plate; a leaf spring containing a projection, mounted at the same one end of the ruler section; a corrugated gear provided along the same guide section of the base plate, the corrugated gear having a plurality of recesses at regular intervals for engagement with the projection of the leaf spring. The projection of the leaf spring, when engaged with a recess of the corrugated gear, stops the movement of the ruler section, thus enabling the ruler section to move step-by-step over a fixed distance at a specified angle to the guide section.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1987Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hiroshi Tsujioka

Patent number: 4679328Abstract: A writing template comprising a planar surface and slotted lettering guide movably mounted thereon. The lettering guide is mounted upon the planar surface for rectilinear movement along a plurality of parallel steps. The planar surface includes a clip disposed on the upper end thereof for securing paper beneath the slotted template. An indexing mechanism is also provided whereby the slotted template may be momentarily lowered for facilitating the creation of a lowercase letter such as g, j, p, q and y. In this manner penmanship may be improved and writing skills enhanced by an inexpensive writing guide which assists in the creation of both uppercase and lowercase letters.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1986Date of Patent: July 14, 1987Inventor: Michael Saad

Patent number: 4554746Abstract: The present invention provides a self-locking-and-measuring, straight-edge apparatus designed to allow one to very accurately draw spaced parallel lines, particulary horizontal ones, the straight-edge being especially designed for ruling computer-printout forms. The apparatus comprises a scaled guide bar that is affixed perpendicularly to a drafting table, or the like, on which a straight-edge assembly is slidably and adjustably mounted, so as to move longitudinally along the scaled guide bar. The straight-edge assembly includes a base plate having a spring-biased latch positioned to selectively engage any one of a plurality of scaled notches formed along the longitudinal edges of the scaled guide bar. A straight edge is adjustably attached to the base plate.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1984Date of Patent: November 26, 1985Inventor: Luis Echeverria

Patent number: 4539759Abstract: Apparatus is described which may be substituted for the vertical rule on a conventional drafting machine arrangement having a pair of rules set at right angles to one another. The apparatus includes a clamp for a transfer sheet which is movable in steps. Used with a dry transfer sheet with lines of letters on it, the interline spacing of which is an integral multiple of the stepped movement spacing of the apparatus, and fitted to a conventional drafting machine, the apparatus assists in applying accurate baseline legends to drawings using dry transfer rather than hand lettering.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1982Date of Patent: September 10, 1985Assignee: Esselte Pendaflex CorporationInventors: Martin E. Patent number: 4513511Abstract: A drawing board for use with dry transfer materials is described. The board has a track along one edge and a paper clamp along an adjacent edge. The track bears a bar parallel to the paper clamp which in turn bears a carriage to which a dry transfer sheet can be affixed. The carriage may be racked up and down to bring an appropriate line of dry transfer letters over an appropriate place on a piece of paper held in the paper clamp. The carriage may be provided with a mechanism for holding it firm and then moving the dry transfer sheet clamp slightly. This mechanism enables words to be built up and which the letters are evenly spaced easily and quickly.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1982Date of Patent: April 30, 1985Assignee: Esselte Pendaflex CorporationInventors: Martin E. Dowzall, Vazgen J. Houssian

Patent number: 4364184Abstract: Apparatus for use in making signs, displays or artwork is described. The apparatus consists of a base board to which a receptor surface or, for example, a sign sheet may be secured. A sheet holder is movably mounted on the base board and removably supports a carrier sheet bearing horizontally aligned rows of indicia formed of dry transfer material in overlying relationship with the receptor surface. The carrier sheet may be slidable on the sheet holder back and forth horizontally across the receptor surface. The sheet holder is mounted to move vertically across the receptor surface in equal size steps between successive registered positions. The distance between the base line of successive rows of indicia on the carrier sheet is an integral multiple of the sheet holder step size so that when letters are successively transferred from different lines of the carrier sheet to the same line on the receptor surface, those letters are accurately level with one another and in proper horizontal alignment.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1980Date of Patent: December 21, 1982Assignee: Letraset CorporationInventor: Martin E.
