A sliding ruler is also provided that spans two sides of the frame rule permitting a user to quickly and easily measure and layout a scrapbook page. Preferred embodiments further include a magnetic sheet underneath the self healing mat in conjunction with a steel sliding ruler to help hold the ruler securely in place at a desired position or location.

The base strips and attachment strips are sized and arranged with respect to the measuring table in such a way that the plane of the measuring table acts as a reference plane for the underside of the attachment strips. A clamping piece, which fixes the object, is also provided. The invention is suitable for both contactless optical measuring and tactile measuring. One of the advantages of the invention is that objects to be measured can be securely and rapidly fixed to the measuring table, even if the latter is mobile.

The other side of the ruler is a base side, and on the back is a linear hook-shaped stopper. The stopper is received in the groove of the board, and paper is positioned while the screw is loose. As the screw is threaded deeper, the one side of the clipscale is raised off the board, with the hook of the stopper engaged complementarily with the portion overhanging the groove of the board, so as to serve as a fulcrum. The base side is forced against the board with paper therebetween, so that the paper and the clipscale are fixed on the board in one action.

The tool's straight edge, unobstructed by clamps or other protrusions, is then used as a guide to bank against the saw fence of a table saw, radial arm saw, or circular saw, producing a straight edge on the piece. Using the tool, one can take the flat bow out of a piece and also remove the rough mill edge.     Abstract: A portable, lighted drafting station comprises a shallow tray the size of a briefcase having a cover made from a sheet of translucent material sliding into slots in the rim of the tray. A T-square and two triangles are held by a set of brackets against the undersurface of the cover. A fluorescent light inside the tray resting over a sheet of reflective material leaves enough storage to accommodate pencils and other drafting implements. A simple, spring-biased bolt locks the cover into the tray by engaging a notch into the stored T-square.

    Abstract: Drawing apparatus for the preparation of technical drawings has a support for a drawing board on which paper may be attached. The support defines a frame surrounding the board which frame includes an upstanding lip for engagement by drawing instruments. Front, rear and side walls depend downwardly from the frame, and flare outwardly somewhat so that a series of apparatuses may be stacked for storage, with one nested partially within another. The lower edge of each side wall defines shoulders arranged so that the drawing surface may be disposed at one of three different angles to the horizontal when placed on a support surface, with that surface engaging different parts of the side walls. The frame may include an open-topped recess for holding drawing instruments, which recess will be closed by the next apparatus up, in a stack of such apparatus.

    Abstract: A tool guide temporarily attachable to vehicle body panels or other surfaces to provide a straight edge, and a contour sander for use in connection with a straight edge. The tool guide includes an elongated member having a longitudinal edge surface for guiding a work tool, and suction cups mounted on tongues extending laterally from the body of the tool guide. The tongues are angled in relation to the body, so that the tongues exert a cantilever force urging the tool guide against a surface when the tongues are secured against the suction cups. The contour sander includes a number of flat blades mounted side-by-side and each having a longitudinal edge for contacting a contoured work surface. A clamp holds the blades in parallel juxtaposition and selectively loosens the blades for conforming contact with the contour. Finger grips are formed at the ends of the blades, allowing the operator to raise or lower any particular blade and obtain a sharper or more accurate reproduction of contour if desired.

The fence assembly is adjustable in length and includes an inner rail telescopically received within an outer rail, each rail being provided with a retractable workpiece stop which is pivotally mounted on its rail so as to be movable from an operative to a retracted position. A clamping mechanism may be provided for securing a workpiece in position against the guide bar.

    Abstract: A combination simple and compound mitre gauge along with a precision split fence constitute the subject matter of the present invention. Both the mitre gauge and fence are intended to be utilized with power woodworking tools. The mitre gauge constitutes both a simple and compound gauge by utilizing an elongated member which slides in a groove on the supporting table and a suppport plate coupled with the member which is movable about a vertical axis and can be held in a given position by appropriate locking means. The support plate presents a vertical surface which mounts a guide that can be moved into one of two positions to vary the length of it. The guide may also be removed and a planar surface presenting shoe pivotally coupled with the support plate. The angle of the planar surface of the shoe may be varied and means is provided for locking the shoe in any given position.

In situations where variations in typeface height normally cause problems, such as: matching specimens of typeface; filling vertical spaces; and dropping caps, among others, the task of determining this ratio is complicated by the fact that typefaces with the same point size may actually differ in height, and typefaces of the same name may vary in size according to the typesetting system which produces them.
