Patent number: 7635289Abstract: A collision detection sensor for a waterjet system provides a signal in the event the device approaches to within a selected distance of an obstruction in the plane of the working surface. An annular pressure switch lying in a first plane provides the signal when radial pressure is applied to a perimeter of the pressure switch via an annular trigger skirt, the trigger skirt applying the radial pressure in response to a collision of the device with an obstacle.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2007Date of Patent: December 22, 2009Assignee: Flow International CorporationInventors: Felice M. Patent number: 7373734Abstract: A linear proportioner including a logarithmic mechanism to be used for transferring linear dimensions from an existing drawing, picture or actual scene to a new drawing or artist medium. An elongated assembly provides two indicators (one fixed and one variable) as reference pointers, two indicators (one fixed and one variable) for object pointers and an adjustment knob which, when rotated, moves the variable indicators synchronously and proportionally. By depressing the knob when transferring the first object dimension, the proportion ratio (transparent to the operator) is automatically set for subsequent dimension transfers.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2007Date of Patent: May 20, 2008Inventor: Raymond Givonetti

Patent number: 7310884Abstract: An adjustable device to locate and transfer the positions of golden section points from a source image to a secondary surface, comprising a plurality of paired blades that are coupled to pivot at the golden section points that occur along the length of the blades and at the endpoints of the blades. This configuration creates a looped series of connected levers, sequenced to diminish in length by golden section ratio, with fulcrums positioned at golden section points. The device is bilaterally symmetrical and maintains consistent golden section proportions regardless of the size to which it is adjusted. The creation of accurate images by a means other than tracing enables the user to learn how the mathematics of the golden section relates to the principles of proportion that connect the parts to the whole.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2006Date of Patent: December 25, 2007Inventor: Charles Fleischer

Patent number: 7043849Abstract: A multifunction instrument comprising four movable parts, including a first leg 12, an identical second leg 14, a pointer arm 16, and a connecting arm 18. Pointer arm 16 and connecting arm 18 are permanently but pivotally connected at pivot points 24A and 24B. Pivot points 20 A and B, 22 A and B, and 26 A and B are fastened by a removable fastener. The first leg 12 and second leg 14 have multiple holes drilled at intervals in the near end of each leg with a pivotal means of adjoining that allows for selecting various ratios. Legs 12 and 14 have a pivotal means of adjoining at pivot point 20A and 20B for determining angles and perspective. Legs 12 and 14 are calibrated and provide a straight edge, while flat surfaces provide printable space.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2005Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Inventor: Delmar Laurence Leger

Patent number: 6854196Abstract: An adjustable spacer tool for spacing balusters includes an extendable pantograpic assembly having a first and second end and including evenly-spaced parallel uprights and X-shaped sets of cross-bars pivotally connected to one another. Each X-shaped set is pivotally connected to a pair of uprights adjacent upper ends thereof and pivotally and slidably connected to the uprights adjacent lower ends thereof. An arm, finger and cam extend outwardly from each end of the assembly to provide spacing between each end of the assembly and a desired surface for various sets of same-width balusters. Each arm is pivotally connected to one end of the assembly and to one end of the finger. The other end of the finger is pivotally and slidably connected to a respective end of the assembly. Each cam is pivotally connected to the arm distal the assembly. Removable connections permit adjustment of the overall length of the tool and replacement of parts.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2003Date of Patent: February 15, 2005Assignee: L. J. Smith, Inc.Inventors: Terry D. Burrell, Daniel L. Moore

Publication number: 20030014876Abstract: A proportioning device having two elongated members which are uncouplably joined at a pivotable joint which may be at various predetermined positions. Both ends of both of the elongated members terminate at pointers, and the pointers at at least one pair of corresponding ends are adjustable. By variation of the pivot point and the position of the adjustable pointer, it is possible to obtain a wide range of ratios of lengths between the pivotable joint and the pointers at the two ends of the elongated members. The device can be used to transfer a series of proportioned dimensions from an original object to an image or reproduction.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 17, 2002Publication date: January 23, 2003Inventor: Ronald Goldie
