  • Patent number: 11859519
Abstract: An engine brake rocker arm assembly for a valvetrain and operable in an engine drive mode and an engine braking mode. The assembly is configured to selectively open one of first and second exhaust valves in the engine braking mode and includes a brake rocker arm configured to rotate about a rocker shaft, and an engine brake capsule assembly movable between (i) a locked position configured to perform an engine braking operation, and (ii) an unlocked position that does not perform the engine braking operation. A lash setting tool is configured to removably engage the engine brake capsule assembly and move the engine brake capsule to the locked position to enable mechanical lash adjustment while the brake rocker arm is assembled in a valvetrain and the engine brake capsule is assembled in the brake rocker arm.

  • Patent number: 11359904
Abstract: A valve clearance measuring assembly includes a panel having a first side, a second side, a forward edge and a rearward edge. The forward edge is extendable between a valve tip and a rocker arm. The first and second sides of the panel each are planar and orientated planar with respect to each other. A head includes a central member and a pair of arms. The arms extend in a generally same direction with respect to each other to define a space between the arms. The panel is attached to the arms and traverses the space. The forward edge is in static communication with the arms such that the forward edge is in a linear configuration as the forward edge traverses the space.

  • Patent number: 9863750
Abstract: A modular system (1) for checking a valve seat and its associated valve guide in cylinder heads of internal combustion engines comprises a guide and support assembly (10), movable in three directions, which carries one or more electronic gauges (11) and a precentering pin (14) to guide the insertion of the gauge in the valve seat and its associated valve guide, and a tilting table (3) for loading and locating a cylinder head (4). Thanks to the particular structure of a support mechanism (12) connected to the guide and support assembly, the gauge is able to self-position on the valve seat to be checked and to disengage in a checking condition from the guide and support assembly at least in one of the three directions. The tilting table can be adjusted depending on the dimensions and layout of the cylinder head to be checked and includes a swing system (6) to set the tilt of the table as a function of the inclination of the valve seat and its associated valve guide to be checked.

  • Patent number: 8087181
Abstract: A technique is provided for detecting the surface profile of a seat pocket of a gate valve. An inspection tool is used to detect data at a plurality of points around the bore of the valve. The inspection tool has a sensor that is moveable between a retracted position and an extended position. The inspection tool is disposed within a valve body cavity with the sensor in the retracted position. The sensor of the inspection tool is then extended outward so that it is located within the portion of the bore of the valve having the surface profile to be detected. The sensor is rotated so that the sensor may obtain surface profile data at a plurality of points around the seat pocket of the valve body. The sensor of the inspection tool is connected to a processor-based device, such as a computer. The processor-based device processes the data from the sensor and provides it to a user in a form that is recognizable to the user.

Abstract: The Overhead Tool is designed to take the guesswork out of the critical adjustment of the valves and injectors. It is also capable of sliding across the entire valve and injector train to adjust each valve or injector that accounts for the accuracy of the tool. (For instance, instead of setting the valve or injector according to a recommended range, you can set them exactly to specifications of the particular engine). A feeler gage is inferior to this tool because of the stability and rigidity that allows for the accuracy of this tool.
