Insignia With Respect To Garment, E.g., Uniform Patents (Class 33/653)
  • Patent number: 10178886
Abstract: An apparatus for properly displaying ribbons, name tags, insignias, and badges on a garment; wherein predetermined arrangements of awards can be quickly and reliably established using a plurality of labeled holes, slots and measurements in a template. Military, police, firefighters, and other civil uniformed organizations use name tags, ribbons, awards, and insignias on their shirt, blouse, jackets, and head cover to display name, rank, and awards. This invention introduces an easy to use way to properly apply name tags, ribbons, awards, badges, pins, and insignias at predetermined positions in the template for military and civil uniformed services. This template will make it easier and quicker to accurately apply the said items to uniform garments with the use of predetermined holes, slots, and etched markings.

  • Patent number: 8590169
Abstract: The military ribbon template is a tool for the mounting of military awards on corresponding military award ribbons. The military ribbon template includes a plate having a plurality of horizontal rows of rectangular slots formed therethrough. Each rectangular slot is configured for securely receiving an award ribbon. A first set of indicia is formed on the plate, including first sub-sets of indicia, with each first sub-set of indicia corresponding to one of the rows of slots and including an indicator corresponding to a number of awards to be mounted on the award ribbon. Additionally, a second set of indicia are formed on the plate, above each rectangular slot, and the second set of indicia includes second sub-sets of indicia, respectively indicating the type of award to be mounted on the ribbon, the number of awards, and graduations indicating the proper position of the award to be mounted on the ribbon.

Abstract: Military, police, and other organizations use insignias on shirt collars to display rank or identifying marks. This invention introduces an easy to use way to properly apply collar insignia at a predetermined bisecting angle. My design introduces the horizontal collar tab slot (FIG. 1A) to hold the gauge in place once aligned with the collar alignment marks (FIG. 1B). Installing an insignia centered over alignment mark (FIG. 1C) is simple because the vertical slot (FIG. 1D) to receive the insignia fastening pins is placed at the proper angle in reference to the collar tip to ensure proper alignment. The open ended slot (FIG. 1D) allows the gauge to slide off the collar when the insignia is properly installed on the collar. The open ended design of the vertical slot also allows this gauge to slide under an installed insignia for inspection purposes.

Abstract: An angle finder tool for use with embroidery machines, wherein the tool enables accurate angle measurements to be determined so that the embroidery machine may properly orient the design onto the fabric during the embroidery process. The angle finder tool includes a lower component comprising an angle degree chart and an upper component connected to the lower component, wherein the upper component comprises a crosshair. The upper component rotates independently of the lower component. The angle finder tool is placed within and parallel to an embroidery hoop and centered on a target orientation indicator on the fabric. The crosshair on the upper component is rotated to align with an arrow on the target indicator. The angle indicated by aligning the crosshair and target indicator arrow is supplied to an embroidery machine, which uses the angle to orient a design template in relation to the fabric.

Abstract: The tool for locating a center mark for embroidery on articles such as garments includes a planar body having orthogonally-related legs with respective exterior and interior edges. Index markings are provided on the legs along the linear edges. The index markings include indicia identifying a plurality of corresponding preestablished garment sizes along the linear extending edges, respectively. By aligning common selected sizes along the edges with the vertical centerline of a folded garment and a shoulder portion of the garment, respectively, the location of the embroiderer's center mark on the garment is identified at the intersection of the linear edges. The interior edges of the tool may also used to form marking lines where conventional hoop grids are not available.

  • Patent number: 5063684
Abstract: A marking template (A) that operates in combination with collar insignia (14) in which its spikes (15) serve as a marking device. Thus its title is derived from its primary function of marking the position for the placement of collar insignia. Template (A) is a flat, thin, rigid, triangular shaped device. Located at predetermined distances from either of two bases (6) and (7) are two triangular edge positioning notches (4) and (5). These unique edge positioning notches (4) and (5) are used to align and center template (A) on the uniform collar. In addition there are a plurality of die cut incisions (12) arranged in sets of two die cut incisions (13) to accommodate the insertion of collar insignia (14) for all enlisted insignia of grades of the U.S. Marine Corps. When the insignia (14) is inserted into one set of two die cut incisions (13) corresponding to a specific rank (18), the insignia spikes (15) then becomes a part of the physical feature of the marking template (A).
