Abstract: An outboard marine engine comprises an internal combustion engine; a lower gearcase, a set of gears disposed in the lower gearcase, the set of gears being configured to transfer power from the internal combustion engine to drive a propulsor to generate a thrust on the outboard marine engine, and a dipstick that extends into the lower gearcase. The dipstick is removable from the lower gearcase and configured to indicate a level of lubrication in the lower gearcase.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes: an engine body including: a crankcase for rotatably supporting a crankshaft; and a crankcase cover fastened to the crankcase by a plurality of bolts so as to cover one side of the crankcase; and a stay supporting an oil level gauge guide, the stay being mounted on the engine body, the stay having an opening receiving and supporting a tube or wire.
Abstract: Instant Reading Oil Dipstick Improvements is a near universal design with most assembly done by the manufacturer. The customers can easily adapt such to match their existing dipstick geometry by pushing the adjustable parts to the correct location, where they will remain. The air valve is within a single, machined brass cone that adapts to the metal tube and seals in the engine vacuum. A new tubular plastic air seal around the wire handle increases reliability. And a cone shaped rubber squeegee will automatically remove oil from the outside of the tubing as the dipstick is withdrawn from the crankcase.
Abstract: The present instant reading oil dipstick automatically extracts a representative column of oil from the crankcase oil reservoir. Such is done inside of a translucent fluoroplastic tube. A machined brass slide valve, with sealing O-rings, fits inside of the metal dipstick tubing leading into the engine crankcase. When the dipstick is withdrawn for checking oil level, the slide valve automatically closes over an air vent in the plastic tubing, thus preventing the oil that is inside the bottom of the tubing from running out. The oil level can be ascertained, easily—even in low light levels—without have to wipe off the oil from the outside of the dipstick, and without having to reinsert the dipstick one or more times.
Abstract: The implement linkage of a work machine comprises at least one oil dilled pin joint. During operation of the linkage, pressure can build up in the pin joint, thus causing damage to the pin joint. It is desirable to vent this pressure without allowing oil to escape from the pin joint. It is also desirable to measure the level of the oil in the pin joint. A combination relief vent and dipstick apparatus which allows both these tasks to be accomplished with one apparatus is disclosed herein.
Abstract: This invention relates to automatic transmissions and more particularly to valves for controlling and limiting automatic transmission breathing to reduce oxidation of the operating fluid fill. The valve permits relief of any residual pressure within the transmission housing for checking the operating fluid level.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a sealing cap assembly (10) of the type that is particularly adapted for use in closing and venting the access aperture (60) of a transmission housing (58). The embodiment of the sealing cap assembly (10) disclosed, has a body portion (15) and a cap portion (20). The body portion (15) has a radially outermost extent with at least one thread path (51 and/or 52) extending along, and being recessed inwardly with respect to, the outermost extent of the body portion (15). At least one hollow cubicle (46, 47, 48 or 49) is provided interiorly of the body portion (15). Port means (73 and/or 74) penetrate the body portion (15) in order to provide communication between at least one the thread paths (51 and/or 52) and the hollow cubicle (46, 47, 48 or 49).
