Abstract: A defrosting system includes an RF signal source, two electrodes proximate to a cavity within which a load to be defrosted is positioned, a transmission path between the RF signal source and the electrodes, and an impedance matching network electrically coupled along the transmission path between the output of the RF signal source and the electrodes. The system also includes power detection circuitry coupled to the transmission path and configured to detect reflected signal power along the transmission path. A system controller is configured to modify, based on the reflected signal power, a value of a variable passive component of the impedance matching network to reduce the reflected signal power. The impedance matching network may be a single-ended network or a double-ended network.

  • Patent number: 5952896
Abstract: A high efficiency radio frequency (RF) impedance matching network containing an "L-type" inductor-capacitor (LC) circuit where the capacitor is a variable capacitor coupled from an input port to ground and the inductor is a variable inductance inductor coupled from the input port to an output port. A blocking capacitor is provided between the inductor and the output port and a ceramic capacitor is coupled in parallel across the variable capacitor. The impedance match is tuned by physically adjusting tuning elements of both the inductor and capacitor. The variable inductor contains an improved inductor tuning element that optimizes current flow in the tuning elements and inductor. To further improve the efficiency of the matching network, the assembly uses an improved enclosure interior finish and various circuit optimization techniques that reduce contributions to match loop resistance.

Abstract: An electrical enclosure for a circuit board includes a top part and a bottom part. Substantially rigid compression fingers extend downwardly from a top wall of the top part and are disposed inwardly from a top side wall of the top part. One or more shield springs extend upwardly from a bottom wall of the bottom part and are disposed inwardly from a bottom side wall of the bottom part. The top part and the bottom part are attachable and detachable such that the top and bottom shells define a chamber, the compression fingers and the shield springs contacting top and bottom surfaces of the circuit board, respectively, to thereby suspend the circuit board in the chamber. A coaxial cable grounding arrangement and an electrical connector shielding arrangement are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5412541
Abstract: A sheet member adapted for attachment to an acoustic or imaging apparatus to improve the acoustic or imaging performance thereof. The sheet member is generally circular, including a plurality of generally W-shaped cut-outs and a like plurality of generally V-shaped cut-outs both formed alternately and equi-angularly in the outer circumference thereof. The sheet member improves the acoustic or imaging performance by reducing the interference caused by electromagnetic radiations emitted from the acoustic or imaging apparatus or their components to which the sheet member is attached. The reduction of such interference can be attained also by forming a compact disc, a laser disc, a magnetic tape, a semiconductor chip, a circuit board, a magnetic or IC card or the like in a manner to have such cut-outs in their outer circumference.

  • Patent number: 4399419
Abstract: A method and structure is disclosed for isolating the shield of a shielded conductor system from a low frequency power source to which the shield may be connected. In one embodiment, the isolation technique includes providing an interruption in the conductor's shield and situating within the interruption dielectric and magnetically absorptive material so as to create at least a pair of capacitance across the interruption, and such that the capacitances are separated by magnetically absorptive material. In this manner, low frequency isolation is achieved and the field within the cable is shielded from ambient high frequency electromagnetic interference which could otherwise leak through the interruption into a desired high frequency signal path within the conductor. In other embodiments, at least some of the dielectric material forms part of a series resonator to improve attenuation of electromagnetic interference at low VHF frequencies.
