Abstract: In an electromagnet switch, a stationary iron core is composed mainly of a base part and a disk part. The base part is faced to a plunger and the disk part is forcedly inserted and fixed to a boss part formed in the base part. The disk part is composed of a metal plate of ferromagnetic substance (iron plate) and another substance plate (made of resin or rubber and the like, for example,) of a smaller spring constant or a larger damping coefficient than that of the metal plate. The metal plate and another substance plate are laminated. Another substance plate absorbs or reduces the impact force when the plunger is electromagnetically attracted toward and collides with the base part. The propagation of a large impact noise or crashing sound is thereby suppressed, and as a result the impact noise can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6310529
Abstract: The present invention is for a bi-stable battery switch incorporated preferably for internal use into a remotely switchable storage battery, or, in the alternative, for external use with a battery. A bifurcated contact assembly incorporating dual bus bars is pulse actuated by a solenoid and cam arrangement to engage or disengage across opposing contacts. When engaging the contacts and when associated with high inductive loads, the first bus bar to advance initiates contact and assumes the arcing load, while the second bus bar to advance assumes the current load. When breaking contact and when associated with high inductive loads, the first bus bar to retreat breaks the current load and the second bus bar to retreat breaks the arcing load. Thus, the loads are shared to increase the durability and length of service of the switch.

Abstract: An electromechanical switching or relay apparatus wherein an armature moves a relay contact by means of an interposed rigid slide member having opposite ends contacting respectively the armature and a portion of the contact means. The rigid member is angled with respect to one of the armature or relay portion so as to impose a relative rubbing movement during cycling of the system.

  • Patent number: 4112400
Abstract: An electrical relay characterized by a simplified centrally stacked construction of stationary parts, using a minimum of easily fabricated and assembled components, and having an increased capacity for a given sensitivity. The relay can operate on 110 millivolt range and incorporates a pair of identical switch blades which are assembled in fixed, stacked, insulated, reverse relationship on the core under an armature suspended in biased hinged relationship from a yoke. One feature of the invention is the press-fitting of the sandwich of switch blades and insulators on the core in a fixed non-rotational relationship that insures that the spacing and attitude of the contacts remains constant and providing a wiping action at the contacts during operation making the relay suitable for handling heavier currents.

  • Patent number: 4101856
Abstract: A housing for a small size electronic switching relay comprises an integral single part housing skeletal structure of insulating material which has an interior space which is divided by first and second partition walls which extend perpendicularly to each other into an armature chamber and first and second spring contact chambers. The housing includes a first and second set of spring contact holder slots defined therein which extend from the exterior of the housing into the respective first and second spring contact chambers. The first partition wall separates the armature chamber from the spring contact chambers and it has an actuator guide slot defined therein which extends from the armature chamber into respective ones of the first and second spring contact chambers. The housing has a wall bounding an end of the armature chamber with an armature biasing spring retainer slot.

  • Patent number: 4083023
Abstract: The proposed pile-up assembly comprises metallic fastenings with contact springs being placed therebetween. These springs are insulated from one another by plates made of a thermoplastic material. The assembly also comprises a bush extending through openings made in the fastenings and the plates and connecting all the assembly components. Each plate is provided, according to the invention, with projections running the length of the surface facing the contact springs. The height of the projections is chosen so that when the invention is clamped during assembly, the contact springs are depressed against said projection until they come in contact with the surface of the plates. Employment of the proposed invention permits a reduction of labor consumption during assembly.

  • Patent number: 4080584
Abstract: A spring retaining clip for mounting a contact carrying insulator on the return pole piece of an electromagnetic relay. The spring retaining clip is generally U-shaped and has a resilient back wall member adapted to be disposed between the return pole piece of the relay and the excitation coil thereof. The spring retaining clip also includes a pair of side wall members which straddle a central portion of the return pole piece and which interlock with a corresponding pair of side wall members of the contact carrying insulator. In a free state condition, the back wall member is curved similarly to the curved outer surface of the excitation coil, but must be straightened somewhat and forced into engagement with the central portion of the return pole piece before the side wall members of the spring retaining clip and the insulator can become interlocked in assembled relation with one another.

  • Patent number: 4060847
Abstract: A power contactor device includes at least one power relay contained within an electrically insulating plastic housing. Electrical busses carrying current to the relay contacts also serve as a means for removing the heat generated by those contacts and other electrical components within the housing. On the exterior of the housing, the busses have a large surface area and transfer heat through electrically insulating but thermal conducting material, such as alumina or beryllium filled epoxy, to a heat sink. The core of the relay is in metal-to-metal contact with the heat sink.

  • Patent number: 4052581
Abstract: A switch is comprised of at least one leaf-like springy fixed contact, a movable contact, a supporting member for supporting the fixed contact and a positioning member for positioning the free end of the fixed contact. The leaf-like fixed contact is fixed by the supporting member at a position close to one end of the fixed contact, and is biased by the positioning member at a position close to the other end. Thus, the free end of the leaf-like springy fixed contact is placed at a position by its function of urging the positioning member.

  • Patent number: 4027131
Abstract: A spring electrical contact assembly having an elongated spring member with a contact adjacent a free end, the member mounted at an inner end in a slot opening in an insulated mounting body. The contact is urged by its spring force against a fixed contact carried by a stiff member mounted in the body. The inner end of the spring is fixed to a rigid spring carrier plate seated in the slot, the plate extending parallel to the elongation of the spring and having an edge at a right angle thereto intermediate the spring ends. The edge functions as a fulcrum point for the spring.

  • Patent number: 4020435
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromagnetic contact switch relay assembly of the type having a magnetic coil. A yoke is attached to the coil. The yoke includes a flat plate portion with a knife edge at one end thereof. An insulated contact carrier is attached to the plate portion. An L-shaped armature has first and second legs with the corner therebetween having the inside thereof engaging the knife edge. The first armature leg has an inoperative position on the plate while at rest and an operative position while forming an acute angle with respect to the plate. The carrier has an end wall with resilient bifurcated portions engaging the outside of the armature corner and a rigid stop member therebetween for limiting the movement of the armature. A slide member for actuating contact switches is slidably mounted in the carrier in juxtaposition to the first armature leg for actuation in response to movement by the first armature leg.
