  • Publication number: 20120013423
Abstract: According to an illustrative embodiment, a switching device structure is provided comprising a cavity defined by a laminated structure; and a moveable member comprising a plurality of laminated layers, wherein the moveable member is suspended from a side surface of the cavity by a hinge comprising a plurality of adjacent electrical conductors. In one embodiment, a current conducting coil is formed within the moveable member, and first and second of the adjacent electrical conductors of the hinge respectively comprise coil-in and coil-out conductors electrically connected to the coil. In such an embodiment, the third and fourth of said electrical conductors may respectively comprise tip and ring conductors. In illustrative embodiments, each of the electrical conductors of the hinge may comprise a resilient or flexible copper material.

  • Patent number: 7586394
Abstract: A lever arm assembly is provided for a circuit breaker trip actuator reset assembly including a cradle assembly pivotably coupled to the circuit breaker pole shaft, a reset lever pivotably coupled to the circuit breaker housing, and a trip actuator including an actuating element, which moves the reset lever in response to a trip condition. The lever arm assembly includes at least one linking element including a first end pivotably coupled to the cradle assembly, a second end, a pivot, and a deflection assembly having a deflection member. When the cradle assembly moves from a first position toward a second position, it moves the linking element, thereby moving the deflection member into engagement with the reset lever. This pivots the reset lever to reset the trip actuator. After the trip actuator has been reset, the deflection assembly is deflectable to accommodate excess motion of the cradle assembly.

  • Patent number: 7498909
Abstract: An improved ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) receptacle with reverse wiring protection. If the power lines are incorrectly connected to the load end of the receptacle during installation, power output to both the input end of the receptacle and the insertion outlets on the faceplate is prevented. The GFCI receptacle includes two stationary terminals on two first output conductors electrically connected to the insertion outlet, two stationary terminals on two second output conductors adapted for electrically connecting to the load, and four moveable terminal on two moveable connector arm adapted for electrically connecting to the power lines. The four moveable terminals corresponds in position to the four stationary terminals, respectively, and operate to electrical connect or disconnect the power lines to and from the load and the insertion outlet in a manner controlled by a disconnecting mechanism assembly and a reverse wiring protection mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4317095
Abstract: A switching device, with a mechanism similar to that of a D'Arsonval galvanometer, acting responsive to current flow in a primary control circuit to close a switch in a secondary controlled circuit. The primary control circuit includes dual oppositely wound coils, and relative pivotal mounting is provided between the coils and permanent magnets. The pivotal movement therebetween, upon current flow, closes the switch.
