Patent number: 7414504Abstract: A solenoid plunger for use in solenoid driven multi-line embossing systems is constructed of magnetic steel laminations that are attached to a center block which is machined to mount a solenoid shaft and anti-rotate pins. The laminations are attached to the center block with screws and vacuum epoxy glued for a very high cycle life. The laminated steel construction dramatically reduces eddy currents, which allows the magnetic field to rise and fall much more quickly than a conventional steel plunger. It also increases the magnetic force in the solenoid. This reduction in solenoid plunger eddy currents and increase of magnetic force in the solenoid structure itself operates to increase embosser throughput. The laminated steel construction further reduces embosser solenoid heating which also contributes to improved embossing control.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2006Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: DataCard CorporationInventors: Robert W. Patent number: 5382875Abstract: A stray magnetic field suppression system for use in a CRT image display suppresses a stray magnetic field that emanates from the horizontal deflection coil of a beam-deflecting yoke which is energized by sawtooth waveform pulses from a horizontal oscillator. The system comprises two series-connected magnetic coil assemblies in conjunction with a capacitor and activated by the sawtooth waveform pulses. The capacitor serves to integrate the pulses, enabling the suppression system to form an effective field for suppressing a stray magnetic field when the magnetic coil assemblies are interposed in the path of the stray magnetic field on opposite sides of the yoke.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1992Date of Patent: January 17, 1995Assignee: Zenith Electronics CorporationInventors: Wayne D. Patent number: 5319332Abstract: A yoke for a cathode ray tube has deflection coils and a plurality of trim magnets mounted thereon. A tubular shield of Mu-metal slides over the coil to suppress an electromagnetic field radiated therefrom. In one embodiment, the trim magnets are inside the shield so that it has to be removed in order to adjust the magnets. In another embodiment, the trim magnets are outside the shield, so that they may be adjusted without necessarily having to remove the shield. The shield greatly reduces outwardly directed electromagnetic radiation in the vicinity of the cathode ray tube which allegedly might produce a health hazard to an operator at a video monitor terminal.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1991Date of Patent: June 7, 1994Assignee: Computron Display Systems, a division of Xcel CorporationInventor: Israel Espinosa

Patent number: 5227692Abstract: A convergence correcting magnet assembly means for adjusting the position of plural correcting magnets closer to or further from electron beams in a cathode ray tube, preferably comprising four bipolar magnets arranged in two offset pairs, one pair oriented in the lateral direction and a second pair in the longitudinal direction; the pairs of magnets permit laterally and longitudinally deviating beams to be adjusted or converged toward the center beam. Preferably, each of the bipolar magnets is installed in a clearance space having a spring-loaded or elastic member and an adjusting member, so that the intensities of each magnet can be adjusted by individually moving each magnet closer to or further from the beams under spring tension. Interactions between the magnets are minimized by isolating the magnets from one another.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1991Date of Patent: July 13, 1993Assignee: Samsung Electron Devices Co., Ltd.Inventor: Sunhaeng Lee
