Patent number: 5861784Abstract: A remotely controllable circuit breaker device for interrupting current in a circuit path between a source and a load includes local and remote monitoring capabilities and a gear mechanism for reliable remote control of the interruption mechanism. The device includes a first contact and a second contact cooperatively arranged in the circuit path so as to provide current from the source to the load. At least one of the contacts is disposed on a contact carrier which is movable for interrupting the current provided to the load. The gear mechanism includes a motor with a rotatable shaft which responds to open and closed control signals generated from a remote location, and a gear, rotatably responsive to the rotatable shaft, for controlling the contact carrier so that the circuit path is interrupted and established, respectively. The gear mechanism controls the contact carrier using a coupling arrangement, which has a first part coupled to the contact carrier and a second part coupled to the gear.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1996Date of Patent: January 19, 1999Assignee: Square D CompanyInventors: James Arthur Heise, Duane Lee Turner, Dennis William Fleege

Patent number: 4041424Abstract: An automatic reset timer includes two separate switches having operators held in timed-out position by individual latches. A clutch is released by one operator when the timer is timed out. A solenoid also controls the latches for the two switches and also controls the clutch directly. A clutch mode selector is accessible outside the case and may be set for on delay, off delay, or neutral. In neutral the clutch is not controlled by the solenoid and is released only when the timer is timed out. Other mode selectors outside the enclosure control solenoid operation of the switches. They may be caused to transfer from timed out to timing position by either solenoid energization of deenergization. A third position provides for instantaneous operation of one switch by the solenoid. Selection of clutch and switch modes of operation makes a single unit field adjustable in many different combinations, simplifying application to a given problem and reducing models required to be stocked.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1976Date of Patent: August 9, 1977Assignee: Deltrol CorporationInventor: John L. Patent number: 3947790Abstract: An automatic reset timer having a motor and a separate solenoid operated clutch. The solenoid also actuates a switch to timing position, through a first latch, the switch being held there by a second latch. Both latches are released by the timing mechanism. The double latch allows the switch to remain in timing position regardless of the solenoid position. A solenoid lever is mounted behind a mechanism plate and carries mode selectors for setting the type of control of the switch and clutch by the solenoid. These mode selectors are accessible through openings in the plate normally covered by the timer motor.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1974Date of Patent: March 30, 1976Assignee: Deltrol CorporationInventor: John L.
