Snap-action (e.g., Bistable) Patents (Class 337/131)
  • Patent number: 9981359
Abstract: A broken tool detection mechanism applied in a CNC machine includes a base support, a first conductive elastic sheet securely mounted on the base support, and a second conductive elastic sheet. The second conductive elastic sheet is mounted on the base support, at least partially located over the first conductive elastic sheet, and spaced apart from the second conductive elastic sheet by a predetermined distance. The second conductive elastic sheet is pushed towards the first conductive elastic sheet so that the first conductive elastic sheet and the second conductive elastic sheet make electrical contact.

  • Patent number: 8111523
Abstract: A wiring board for use in mounting an electronic component includes a switch element portion interposed in a signal transmission line including a wiring layer linked to an electrode terminal of the electronic component. The switch element portion has such a structure as to change the shape thereof depending on a temperature, and to disconnect the signal transmission line when the temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature. A conductor layer which constitutes a portion of the signal transmission line is formed at the bottom of a cavity formed in an electronic component mounting surface side of the wiring board. One end of the switch element portion is fixedly connected to the wiring layer, and another end thereof is in contact with the conductor layer when the temperature is equal to or lower than the predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 6603386
Abstract: A bi-stable microswitch (1) including a pair of contacts (6, 7) and an armature (4) movable between a first position and a second position to selectively make or break the pair of contacts, the armature being latched in the second position by a shape memory alloy latch (14), wherein the shape memory alloy latch is caused to deform upon heating so as to permit the armature to return to the first position.

  • Publication number: 20010010488
Abstract: The present invention provides a bistable switch using a shape memory alloy, and a method for manufacturing the same. More specifically, the bistable switch includes a substrate having at least one power source; a flexible sheet having a first distal end attached to the substrate; a bridge contact formed at a second and opposite distal end of the flexible sheet; and at least one heat activated element connected to a first surface of the flexible sheet and between the second distal end and the power source. During operation, current from the power source passing through the heat activated element to indirectly bend the flexible sheet and short the signal contacts on the substrate with a sustainable force.

  • Patent number: 5491460
Abstract: An electrical instrument switch includes a rocker switch for manual on-and-off switching and that is seated in an insulation housing. Depending on the pivot position, the rocker switch moves, with a working end that dips into the housing interior, a contact bridge between the closed position of its contact and the open position of its contact. The contact bridge is electrically connected in series with a contact spring that can be triggered thermally and hence acts as an overcurrent protection. The contact spring can move between its contact position and its open position. The contact spring is mechanically prestressed in the direction of its open position. When overcurrent occurs, it is transferred out of its contact position into its open position by a thermal triggering element. A pivot of the rocker switch counter to the mechanical prestress, in the tipping direction of the contact spring, guides the contact spring from its open position back into its contact position.
