Plural Expansible Elements With Single Switch Patents (Class 337/307)
  • Patent number: 9772235
Abstract: A method of sensing superheat includes the steps of: (a) connecting a fluid inlet member of a superheat sensor to one of a plurality of fluid systems; (b) allowing fluid to flow from the fluid system to which the superheat sensor is connected to the superheat sensor; (c) sensing a temperature of the fluid in the fluid system with one of an internal temperature sensor mounted within a housing of the superheat sensor and an external temperature sensor mounted outside of the housing of the superheat sensor; and (d) calculating a superheat of the fluid in the fluid system.

  • Patent number: 5627506
Abstract: An overcurrent protection device for a load 24 having a housing 100 with fixed contacts 108, 110, movable contacts 118, 120 and terminals 102, 104 for electrical connection to the load. A first snap acting bimetallic 116 member in the device is responsive to heat from overcurrent conditions at a first snap temperature and a second snap acting bimetallic member 12 is responsive to heat at a second higher temperature in the event of failure in operation of the first bimetallic member. The first bimetallic member 116 controls the movement of the movable contacts 118, 120 to cause engagement and nonengagement with the stationary contacts 108, 110, and the second snap acting bimetallic member 12 controls electrical connection between the fixed contact 102 and terminal 108, and is not resetable upon breaking the electrical connection.

  • Patent number: 4491821
Abstract: A differential temperature control uses a first temperature expansion element for driving a first pivoted lever supporting a selectively operable switch and a second temperature expansion element for driving a second pivoted lever for operating the switch. The position of the switch operating lever with respect to the switch is achieved by either the first or second temperature expansion element which move the first lever and the second lever, respectively, in direct proportion to a change in the corresponding sensed temperatures. In the case of a movement produced by the temperature expansion element controlling the position of the switch, a similar temperature change sensed by the second temperature element would be needed to "chase" the switch to restore a switch actuation relationship to produce a differential temperature control. A selective adjustment of the spacing of the second lever with respect to the switch is used to change the differential temperature that will produce a switch actuation.

  • Patent number: 4399661
Abstract: A cold station thermal switch at the end of a cold finger in cooperation h the detector on an inner dewar wherein the thermal switch opens at the cool down cryogenic temperature to prevent vibrations from the cooler system from being transmitted to the detector. The thermal switch has an outer bellows fitted around the end of the last stage of the cooler which extends close to but not in contact with the detector and an inner bellows having a metallic bumper on the end thereof in contact with the detector until cool down to the operating cryogenic temperature at which time contraction of the inner bellows disconnects the metallic bumper from the detector.

  • Patent number: 4267413
Abstract: A temperature compensated pressure control device comprising switch means for supplying pressure to a pressurized zone to maintain a predetermined pressure therein, a first diaphragm responsive to depletion of the pressure in said pressurized zone to effect actuation of the switch means to supply the required pressure, a second diaphragm operable to predispose the first diaphragm for a change in temperature in said pressurized zone and sensing means for transmitting the change in temperature to said second diaphragm.
