Plural Ganged Electrodes Patents (Class 338/84)
  • Patent number: 6525642
Abstract: A self-regenerating liquid metal current limiter including solid metal electrodes for connection to an electric circuit to be protected and several compression chambers which are partially filled with liquid metal. The compression chambers are located one behind the other between the electrodes and are formed by pressure-resistant insulating bodies and by partition walls with connecting channels that are supported by the insulating bodies. The partition walls are provided with a plurality of connecting channels that are not arranged in a generally concent arrangement with respect to a substantially horizontal longitudinal axis of the current limiter, the axis extending in a direction perpendicular to the partition walls. The current limiter provides for various positions of use corresponding to a position of rotation of the current limiter about its longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 5097248
Abstract: An electrode for level detection includes a detection electrode including conductor portions and resistor portions arranged and formed one after the other in a level change direction. An insulating coating layer is formed on either each conductor portion or each resistor portion. The insulating coating layer may be of a film having a property to repel a liquid to be measured.

  • Patent number: 4205222
Abstract: A water heater for heating water in a casing by direct passage of current between a high tension electrode and a counter electrode both in contact with water in the casing. An electrically-insulating shield arranged between the electrode and the counter-electrode, is movable relative to the electrode and the counter-electrode for the purpose of varying the length of the current path between the electrode and the counter-electrode. Means is provided for decreasing the ratio of the areas available for the flow of water in the two regions respectively between the electrode and the shield and between the shield and the counter-electrode as the length of the current path is decreased by movement of the shield relative to the electrode and counter-electrode.

  • Patent number: 3946197
Abstract: A high-voltage hot water boiler includes a plurality of fluid heating units arranged parallel to each other. Each fluid heating unit includes a cylindrical housing which serves as a counter-electrode. Each housing is provided with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet so that fluid to be heated can be conducted therethrough and the housing is supported so that the fluid flow path is closer to the horizontal than to the vertical. An electrode extending in the flow direction is provided in each housing for cooperation with the counter-electrode to electrolytically heat the fluid flowing through the flow path. A nozzle, which may be electrically conductive, is associated with the electrode to direct incoming fluid towards the latter. An electrically-insulating sleeve surrounds the electrode and is movable by an adjusting means both in and opposite to the flow of the fluid to modify the flow of current between the electrode and counter-electrode.
