Patent number: 6910285Abstract: This invention provides a dried singulated cellulose pulp fiber product as well as an apparatus and a method for forming singulated and dried fibers. In accordance with the process a feed pulp is delivered to a jet drier. The jet drier singulates and dries the feed pulp. The singulated and dried fibers are collected from the jet drier. The feed pulp may be treated with a treatment substance. The jet drier may be maintained at negative pressure. The product fibers may have low knot count, a low fines count, as well improved kink, curl and twist. The apparatus for carrying out the process may include a pretreatment station for supplying the treatment substance, a pulp feed device designed for pulp, a pulp feed device designed for pulp and foam suspensions, and/or a fiber separation station having a vacuum conveyor.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2003Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: Weyerhaeuser CompanyInventors: Michael David Vrbanac, Ramon Charles Dezutter, Brian Wester, Michael James Yancey

Patent number: 6189236Abstract: A method of reducing the purge gas consumption, dry-down time, or both required for start-up and operation of a gas phase fluidized bed reactor system. The method involves contacting a stream of cycle gas having water and/or a polar hydrocarbon with an adsorbing material while the cycle gas is in a closed circulation loop.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1998Date of Patent: February 20, 2001Assignee: Union Carbide Chemicals & Plastics Technology CorporationInventors: David Mason Gaines, Philip Everett Harrison, Roger Brady Painter, Bill Jack Garner

Patent number: 5925192Abstract: Substantial amounts of particulate soils in garments can be removed by agitation in gas-jet in a solvent-free, low-pressure environment. The ability of the present gas-jet agitation system to remove particulate soils from garments and fabrics rivals that of conventional dry-cleaning processes which agitate the garments and fabrics while immersed in solvent. Thus, a dry-cleaning operation may consist of a solvent-immersion step for removing soluble soils and a gas-jet agitation step to remove particulates. Considerable savings in equipment and operating costs may be realized in the practice of the invention, since solvent flow rates need not be boosted to provide necessary agitation for particulate soil removal. The savings achievable by employing gas-jet agitation are even more pronounced in dense phase gas dry cleaning systems, which require pressurized environments to maintain a liquified solvent.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1996Date of Patent: July 20, 1999Inventors: Edna M. Patent number: 5632100Abstract: In a spray drying and agglomerating process carried out in a spray drying chamber (1) having a conical lower section (3), in which chamber the liquid to be spray dried is atomized into a downward central stream of drying gas and the spent drying gas is withdrawn from non-central locations (5, 11) in the upper part of the drying chamber together with entrained fine particles, m the fine particles are recycled to the drying chamber by pneumatic injection thereof from a location in the lower part of the drying chamber and in one or more directions forming an angle of 0.degree.-90.degree. to the upward center axis of the chamber. An apparatus suitable for carrying out the process has the capability of performing the separation and recycling of the fine particles as specified.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1996Date of Patent: May 27, 1997Assignee: Niro Holding A/SInventor: Ove E. Patent number: 5544427Abstract: A process for the production of pourable and free flowing granules of materials or mixtures thereof which are suitable for use as wetting agents, detergents or cleaning products wherein an aqueous solution or suspension of the wetting agents, detergents or cleaning products is dried using a hot gas stream of superheated steam. Drying is terminated before the granules are damaged by heat, and the hot gas stream is freed from entrained particles of the materials by means of filters.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1994Date of Patent: August 13, 1996Assignee: Henkel Kommanditgesellschaft auf AktienInventors: Wilfried Raehse, Wilhelm Beck, Dieter Jung, Dieter Sonnemann
