    Abstract: A method for heating bulk materials, especially granular plastic material, in which the bulk material is fed to a vessel and exits the vessel based on the consumption. The gas inlet temperature or quantity of gas are thereby varied in such a way that the temperature of the granular material at the outlet corresponds to a target temperature value required for the granular material.

The apparatus includes sub-containers each having an opening for introduction of a gas, an opening for discharge of a gas, a bottom, on which a solid raw material is spread between the inlet opening and the outlet opening, and a wall defining a gap, in which a gas being introduced and discharged is made to contact the solid raw material spread on the bottom while the gas is moved on the surfaces of the material. The apparatus also includes a raw material container for receiving and holding the sub-containers. The apparatus also includes a heating device for heating the raw material container, and carrier gas conveying tubes for introducing a carrier gas into the raw material container and including a passage communicated to the outlet openings of the sub-containers.

    Abstract: A cone-shaped bubbler for use with solid metal organic source material used in metal organic chemical vapor phase deposition systems, and a method of producing carrying gas saturated with source material that is injected into such systems. The bubbler comprises a sealed container having a slanted wall with an inverted cone-shaped cross section. Solid metal organic source material is disposed in the container. A heat bath surrounds the sealed container. A carrying gas inlet is disposed adjacent the top of the container. Carrying gas is injected in a tangential direction relative to the source material, and a whirlpool effect is generated by the tangential gas flow that imparts a centrifugal force to gas molecules, pushing the source material against the wall to promote heat flow from the heat bath to sustain high rate sublimation. A gas outlet is disposed adjacent the bottom of the container.

    Abstract: A method of laundering oily items comprises laundering said items in a wash solution which includes a surfactant system and a source of alkalinity. The source of alkalinity is an alkali metal aluminate preferably sodium aluminate at a concentration effective to have at least about 25 ppm of the alkali aluminate present in the wash solution measured as alumina. The wash solution is then separated from the laundered items and its pH reduced to about 9 or less. A destabilizing polymer such as diallyldimethyl ammonium chloride can be added. This combination causes the oil and grease to separate from the wash solution and float to the surface along with the sodium aluminate. If the concentration of the sodium aluminate is above about 100 ppm preferably about 250 ppm, there is no need to add the destabilizing polymer. This does not affect the overall efficiency of the detergent, yet significantly improves the ability to separate the oil and grease from the waste wash solution.

    Abstract: Dried fuel is at least partly combusted, gasified or carbonized in the presence of cooled solid residue in a reactor. Hot solid residue, which is at temperatures in the range from 500.degree. to 1200.degree. C., is withdrawn from the reactor and is mixed with water-containing fuel in the receiving region of a mechanical mixer, without a supply of fluidizing gas. The mixture is transported with further mixing from the receiving region of the mixer through a mixing section of 1 to 10 meters to an outlet. A fuel-containing, substantially water-free mixture at a temperature in the range from above 100.degree. C. to 150.degree. C. is fed from the outlet of the mixer to the reactor. A mixer which comprises two intermeshing shafts, which rotate in the same sense, may be employed in the process.
