Condensation Of Gas Or Vapor Patents (Class 34/468)
  • Patent number: 10111975
Abstract: A method for control of a process for sterilizing a load in a sterilization chamber according to specific characteristics of the load without direct measurement of the load conditions. The method preferably includes admitting sterilant gas into the sterilization chamber under vacuum; during admission of the sterilant gas, monitoring a sterilant condensation related parameter or data in the sterilization chamber; detecting the occurrence of condensation and determining a value of the condensation related parameter while detecting condensation; selecting a sterilization cycle among a plurality of predetermined sterilization cycles according to the condensation related data; and performing the selected sterilization cycle for sterilizing the load. The condensation related data may be the sterilant dew point, a degree of condensation, or an amount of condensation which may be determined in monitoring the chamber pressure during sterilant gas admission.

Abstract: This sludge drying device is characterised in that a gas entraining a mix of sludge and sand is recycled after drying (6) and separation (8) to be compressed (10) and circulate again through the dryer (6) acting as a heat exchange fluid. Compression has been performed to increase the dew point temperature of the gas containing the evaporated moisture, such that the latent heat of evaporation can be recovered by the drying gas. The required operating power can then be much lower than the required power for evaporating the moisture contained in the sludge, because most of this power is recovered.

Abstract: A method and a drying machine for drying materials, for example foundry sands, laundry, chemical pulps and/or bulk materials. The materials to be dried are loaded into a drying container, in which liquid is vaporized. The steam produced is passed into a condensation chamber and condensed there in thermal contact with the material from the drying container. In this way, the heat of condensation can be recovered for a renewed vaporizing process. The drying machine may be used in particular in a regeneration plant for inorganically bound foundry sands.

Abstract: A method for removal and condensation of vapors from within an enclosed space (120) is disclosed. An enclosed space (120) containing material (110) is surrounded by an insulative permeable layer (130) having a lowering temperature gradient (230) between the inner surface (220) and the outer surfaces (240). The insulative layer (130) may also be covered by an impermeable layer (140). Heating the material (110) in the enclosed space (120) causes the formation of vapors at a positive pressure within the enclosed space (120). Vapors pass through the inner surface (220) of the insulative permeable layer (130) and contact the permeable materials and are condensed by the lowering temperature within the insulative layer (130). The condensate liquid passes downwardly through the insulative layer (130) for collection.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for treating a moving substrate of indefinite length. The apparatus has a control surface positioned in close proximity to a surface of the substrate to define a control gap between the substrate and the control surface. A first chamber is positioned near the control surface, with the first chamber having a gas introduction device. A second chamber is positioned near the control surface, the second chamber having a gas withdrawal device. The control surface and the chambers together define a region wherein the adjacent gas phases possess an amount of mass. Upon inducement of at least a portion of the mass within the region, the mass flow is controlled to significantly reduce dilution of the gas phase component in the adjacent gas phase. This is accomplished through the introduction of a controlled gas stream thereby reducing the flow of an uncontrolled ambient gas stream due to pressure gradients in the system.

Abstract: A domestic appliance for drying a damp product by means of a process air stream that is conducted in a process air channel. The appliance has a treatment chamber that includes the damp product. A cooling assembly cools and condenses the process air stream after it flows through the treatment chamber. A first heat exchanger supplies heat from the process air stream to a working fluid. A heating assembly heats the process air stream before it flows through the treatment chamber and a second heat exchanger supplies heat from the working fluid to the process air stream. The working fluid is conducted in a heat pump that has at least two mechanically coupled displacement pistons. The heat pump operates according to a regenerative gas cycle process that includes a Vuilleumier gas cycle process.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for torrefaction of water containing cellulosic materials is performed in an inert atmosphere. The cellulosic material is cascaded through the apparatus between a plurality of rotatable trays vertically stacked within multiple processing zones. Steam being generated from heating of the cellulosic material is recycled back to the apparatus to provide an inert atmosphere. The steam may be superheated in a heat exchanger. Exhaust from the torrefaction zone of the apparatus has some moisture and other volatiles removed prior to being reheated in a burner. The heated exhaust is used in the heat exchanger to superheat the recycled steam.

Abstract: The invention relates to a heat treatment process for a material in an oven (4), such process using the combustion gases supplied by at least one burner (5) associated with a firebox (6). This process is characterised in that a first condensation phase is provided for the combustion gases between their exiting the firebox (6) and entering the oven (4), such condensation enabling part of the dust contained in the combustion gases to be eliminated, the first condensation phase being conducted using absorption refrigerating means (14) followed by a superheating phase of the combustion gas allowing the required temperature to be obtained for the heat treatment. The invention also relates to a treatment unit implementing such process. The process is more particularly applicable to the heat treatment of wood.
