A user equipment (UE) determines that it is out of coverage (OOC). Even though the UE is OOC, the UE continues to transmit a D2D synchronization signal for in-coverage under a specific condition. If the UE determines that it is in coverage before the specific condition is met, the UE transmits the D2D synchronization signal for in-coverage. If the specific condition is met while the UE is OOC, the UE transmits the D2D synchronization signal for OOC.

  • Patent number: 10045297
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for increasing time a computing device remains in a suspended state during network transmissions. On a first network packet of a plurality of network packets being received while the device is in a suspended state, a wake reference count is incremented and components of the device are temporarily switched from the suspended state to a powered-on state for consumption of the network packet. The wake reference count is incremented for each of the other network packets, and decremented each time each of the packets is consumed by the components of the computing device. In response to the wake reference count being fully decremented, the components are automatically returned from the powered-on state to the suspended state.

  • Patent number: 10037449
Abstract: A storage unit includes a support bar for hanging items and an RFID antenna provided within a predefined distance of the support bar. When the items hanging from the support bar are adorned with RFID tags, and the RFID antenna emits electromagnetic fields in a direction of the support bar, RFID signals identifying the items are transmitted from the RFID tags to the RFID antenna, thereby enabling a placement or a removal of an item to be automatically registered, or an accounting of the available items to be automatically performed. The RFID antenna may be a portion of a transmission line that uses shields and/or dielectric materials to shape the electromagnetic fields toward a predefined direction, and the locations of items bearing RFID tags on the support bar may be determined by varying the phase of the emitted radiofrequency and determining strengths of RFID signals when the electromagnetic fields are emitted at varying phases.

  • Patent number: 10032051
Abstract: An approach is provided in which an RFID reader receives a response signal from an RFID tag affixed to an object. The RFID reader determines a tag charging time of the RFID tag based upon a first point in time that the RFID reader sent a request signal to the RFID tag and a second point in time that the response signal was received by the RFID reader. In turn, the RFID reader identifies a location of the object based on the tag charging time and generates a notification that includes the location of the object.

  • Patent number: 9971327
Abstract: A system for monitoring and controlling building equipment includes a near field communications (NFC) tag, a temperature sensor, a mobile device, and a controller. The NFC tag is located within a building space and stores a tag ID uniquely identifying the NFC tag. The temperature sensor is associated with the building space and configured to measure a temperature of the building space. The mobile device reads the NFC tag and obtains the tag ID from the NFC tag via NFC. The controller receives the tag ID from the mobile device and uses the tag ID to identify the temperature sensor associated with the building space. The controller receives the measured temperature from the temperature sensor and provides the measured temperature to the mobile device. The mobile device displays the measured temperature via a user interface of the mobile device.
