  • Patent number: 10349881
Abstract: A system for detecting an incontinence event includes a pad which is deployable on a mattress and which, as deployed, has an open circuit comprised of a first conductor extending from a first terminal of an RFID inlay, and a second conductor extending from a second terminal of the RFID inlay. The system also includes an RFID reader subsystem having an array of two or more spatially distributed antennas. The detection system commands spatially and temporally varying transmission of energy from the antenna array at a variety of powers and frequency settings. The detection system monitors the antenna array for a return signal resulting from the transmission. The return signal has a moisture status indicator which indicates whether or not liquid is present on the pad. The detection system also causes communication of a WET or DRY status to a destination. The reported WET or DRY status depends on the moisture status indicator.

  • Patent number: 9541905
Abstract: A mobile device for context-sensitive operation in a process control environment, and a system including such a device, includes a first circuit for acquiring information associated with a process entity in the process control environment. The mobile device also includes a processor, communicatively coupled to the first circuit, for identifying the process entity based on the acquired information. Further, the mobile device includes a network interface, communicatively connected to the processor, for receiving work item data associated with a process entity. The work item data indicates a target function associated with the process entity. The processor triggers an event to facilitate implementing the target function associated with the process entity in response to the proximity of the mobile device to the process entity and the work item data.

  • Patent number: 9489823
Abstract: A controller arms an alarm aspect of a corresponding security system. The corresponding security system is initially configured to audibly activate an alarm in response to detecting motion of free-to-roam entities in a monitored location. The free-to-roam entities can be provided unrestricted access into the monitored location. In addition to monitoring for presence of motion at the monitored location, the security system monitors the location for presence of a disarming device. At times of detecting presence of the disarming device at the monitored location, the security system prevents activation of the alarm based on detecting the motion of the free-to-roam entities.

  • Patent number: 9483676
Abstract: To provide a non-transitory computer-readable recording-medium storing an information acquiring program (IAP) that can be implemented by a computer controlling a mobile terminal (MT). The IAP includes five program codes (PCDs). The 1st-PCD causes the computer to use a camera for capturing an on-printed-matter marker. The 2nd-PCD causes the computer to detect a mobile state of the MT. The 3rd-PCD causes the computer to recognize the mark for creating a provision request based on recognition information of the recognized marker and mobile information representing the MT's mobile state detected by the 2nd-PCD. The 4th-PCD causes the computer to transmit the provision request to an information provision apparatus and to receive indication information as a reaction to the provision request from the IA. The 5th-PCD causes the computer to create image information (II) based on the indication information and causes a display part to display the II.

  • Patent number: 9446852
Abstract: Aircraft systems and methods for detecting non-compliant pilot action are provided. The method includes analyzing an outbound communication from an aircraft to recognize a word or phrase corresponding to a parameter associated with a prior request for pilot action. If the word or phrase is recognized, the method further includes storing data corresponding to the outbound communication in a data storage device. The stored data and pilot action taken are compared to determine if there is a discrepancy between the pilot action and the stored data. A discrepancy alert is outputted if the discrepancy is determined to exist. A predetermined time interval is timed from the outbound communication. A timeout alert is outputted at a timeout of the predetermined time interval unless the requested pilot action is taken within the predetermined time interval.

  • Patent number: 9450688
Abstract: A spectral harvesting system has one or more sensor modules and a processor. The sensor modules autonomously scan RF signals over a range of frequencies in a region of interest. The processor receives observed RF signals from the sensor modules, and performs signal analysis on the observed RF signals received. The signal analysis includes converting the observed RF signals into a frequency signal in a frequency domain, temporally averaging the frequency signal to provide a temporally averaged frequency signal, performing a coarse estimate of the spectral noise floor of the observed RF signals based on the temporally averaged frequency signal using an opening technique that performs an erosion process followed by a dilation process on the temporally averaged frequency signal, and determining an a-posteriori signal presence probability of a signal being present from an RF emitter in the region of interest based on the coarse estimate.
