  • Patent number: 11184364
Abstract: Techniques for device connectivity are provided. A request to discover available cast devices is received from a first user device, and a first logically defined space is identified, where a first user associated with the first user device is authorized to access the space. A set of cast devices that correspond to the first logically defined space is determined. A first local port on a gateway device is allocated to a first cast device of the set of cast devices. Further, a response to the request is generated, where the response indicates the first local port on the gateway device. The response is transmitted to the first user device.

  • Patent number: 10346332
Abstract: When a data request is sent from a master device in master-slave communication, a slave device determines whether a piece of data requested by the data request among data stored on the slave device side has been updated after previous transmission of the piece of data. If the piece of data has been updated, the slave device sends the updated piece of data as a response to the data request. If the piece of data has not been updated, the slave device suspends a response to the data request. Thus, a communication system is built which can reduce network processing load and the volume of communication data in the case where the master device periodically acquires data from the slave device.

  • Patent number: 9917883
Abstract: Telecommunication network management operations are performed based on accessing network management data (NMD) files via GUIs and general purpose computers including a network management system (NMS) server, and automatic routines for transferring binary NMD files between the general purpose computers and remote network elements (NEs) being managed. A system user produces configuration files at the NMS server for NEs using a network management GUI, and the hardware of NEs automatically complete the network management operations indicated by the NMD files transferred to them from the NMS server and produce their status files to the NMS server. The network management GUI displays network status based on the latest NE status files at the NMS server. This provides direct, binary file transfer based NMS communication that avoids the complexity and restrictions of intermediate messaging protocols or transaction languages and conversions thereof.

  • Patent number: 9814026
Abstract: A method and apparatus for requesting and allocating bandwidth in a broadband wireless communication system. The method and apparatus includes a combination of techniques that allow a plurality of CPEs to communicate their bandwidth request messages to respective base stations. One technique includes a “polling” method whereby a base station polls CPEs individually or in groups and allocates bandwidth specifically for the purpose of allowing the CPEs to respond with bandwidth requests. The polling of the CPEs by the base station may be in response to a CPE setting a “poll-me bit” or, alternatively, it may be periodic. Another technique comprises “piggybacking” bandwidth requests on bandwidth already allocated to a CPE. Currently active CPEs request bandwidth using unused portions of uplink bandwidth that is already allocated to the CPE. The CPE is responsible for distributing the allocated uplink bandwidth in a manner that accommodates the services provided by the CPE.

  • Patent number: 9225732
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing device and/or device type fingerprinting based on properties of network traffic originating from a device to be identified. In one implementation, the method includes capturing packets routed through a network at an intermediate node between the originating device to be identified and destination, measuring properties of the captured traffic, including packet inter-arrival time, and generating a signature based on the measured properties that includes identifying information about the hardware and/or software architecture of the device. Various implementations do not require deep packet inspection, do not require a managed device-side client, are protocol and packet payload agnostic, and effective for MAC or IP-level encrypted streams. Also, various implementations can provide wired-side detection of wireless devices and device types and can detect both previously detected and unknown devices.

  • Patent number: 7401134
Abstract: A system for processing data packets comprising a plurality of data processing blocks and a controller, which allows the configuration parameters used in processing the data blocks to be updated in each data processing blocks at the data packet boundary. The present invention involves a system that utilizes a handshaking method for synchronously exchanging data between data processing blocks, wherein the data processing blocks update configuration parameters based on the type of networking standard used. Each data processing block identifies a first data block in the data packet and transmits a first data signal along with a first output data block of the data packet, wherein the block updates the configuration parameters from the controller only when the first data signal is present. In this manner, the first data signal, which is indicative of the data packet boundary, is propagated along the sequence of data processing blocks.

  • Patent number: 7366959
Abstract: A communications processing section of a management apparatus sends a request for malfunction information via the Internet to one or more electrical devices being managed. A database manager of the management apparatus refers to data stored in a database and updates the record of the electrical device therein. A timing control section of the management apparatus carries out control so that the number of electrical devices requested upon by the management apparatus does not exceed a predetermined value. In this way, despite the management apparatus centrally manages the malfunction information of each electrical device, a peak quantity of the malfunction information received by the management apparatus can be suppressed and the workload on the management apparatus can be relieved, as opposed to the case where each electrical device sends the malfunction information at its own timing.

Abstract: The electronic system, especially a security system, includes a number of different units that access a network according to a multiple access protocol, which is designed to minimize collisions between frames while reducing bandwidth requirements. The units may monitor different spatial regions according to several different criteria. Respective units that monitor according to correspondingly different criteria in a given spatial region may be assembled into one group and units that monitor different spatial regions but according to the same criterion may be assembled into another group. Each of the units of the one group are provided access to the network in one concurrent time slot, while the units of the other group are provided access to the network in a different concurrent time slot.

  • Patent number: 6958677
Abstract: An object location monitoring system includes beacons that are spatially distributed throughout an area to be monitored. The beacons transmit interrogation signals that are received and echoed by transponders that attach to moveable objects. Each beacon retransmits its interrogation signal, and any transponder response thereto, to a receiver that measures a time difference between the two signals. This time difference reflects the signal propagation time, and thus the distance, between the beacon and the transponder. One such receiver preferably analyzes the retransmitted signals of multiple (e.g., 50 to 100) beacons. A triangulation method is used to determine the location of each transponder based on the transponder's distances from a set of beacons. In one embodiment, the transponders are provided as or within disposable ID bracelets worn by patients, and are used to track the locations of the patients within a hospital.

  • Patent number: RE37613
Abstract: An automatic addressing technique for flexibility specifying the individual physical addresses of a plurality of devices coupled to an information bus. An anchor pattern is applied to an address bus of a plurality of address taps sufficient to uniquely specify the numbered J of devices to be attached thereto. Each device is connected to a tap on the address bus, each tap having the same number of bits. A plurality of address transform elements are serially connected to the bus, each transform element being located between adjacent tap positions. Each transform element converts the address pattern coupled to its input to another pattern capable of uniquely specifying the next address in the desired sequence. A wide variety of address sequences are available for selection, with each particular address sequence automatically determined by the related specific anchor pattern.
