  • Patent number: 11974376
Abstract: The invention relates to a monitoring system (13) for monitoring electrical devices (A, B, C, D, K) like luminaires. An assignments providing unit (7) provides assignments between the electrical devices and behavior classes defining expected behaviors, wherein a deviation determination unit (9) determines a deviation a) between a monitored behavior of an electrical device assigned to a behavior class and an expected behavior defined by a behavior class and/or b) between a monitored behavior of an electrical device and a monitored behavior of another electrical device, wherein an output unit (10) provides an output depending on the determined deviation. The deviation can be indicative of a commissioning error, i.e., for instance, of an assignment of an electrical device to a wrong room within a building. The monitoring system can therefore allow for an automatic detection of commissioning errors in a building which may have thousands of electrical devices.

  • Patent number: 10967773
Abstract: An electronically-activated support positioning system for a passenger seat can include a sensor capable of detecting a tactile input from a passenger and sending a signal, optionally through a controller, to a lock actuator coupled to a lockable hydraulic spring to either lock or unlock the lockable hydraulic spring. The lockable hydraulic spring can control movement of a support of the passenger seat, such as reclining of a seatback. In an example, when tactile input is detected, the lock actuator can unlock the lockable hydraulic spring, allowing an attached seatback to be adjusted. When tactile input is no longer detected, the lock actuator can lock the lockable hydraulic spring, securing the seatback from adjustment. The sensor can be sufficiently small to fit within the confines of an armrest. The sensor can be a microswitch positioned to detect deflection of a tab formed in the wall of the armrest.

  • Patent number: 10578465
Abstract: Internal event verification is enabled in sensor bus systems. One example sensor bus system includes a channel master component and one or more channel slave components. A first subset of the channel slave components can include sensors that sense one or more properties (e.g., acceleration) associated with an event (e.g., crash) and output sensor data based on the one or more sensed properties. A second subset of the channel slave components can include channel verification components that can receive, decode, and analyze at least a portion of the sensor data, and output event data indicating whether an event occurred based on the analyzed portion of the sensor data. The channel master component can receive and decode the sensor data and the event data, and output information to a controller, which can send a signal to initiate a response (e.g., airbag deployment) when an event is detected and verified.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a semi-automatic method of replacing a ballast within a lighting control system, such that the new replacement ballast can operate in the same manner as the ballast that was replaced. If multiple ballasts in a lighting control system are removed from the system and multiple new ballasts are installed to replace those ballasts, any operational configurations such as group configurations or area information associated with each removed (missing) ballast must be assigned to the proper new replacement ballast. The semi-automatic replacement method relies upon the operational configurations of the removed ballast to help a user identify which new ballast should replace each missing ballast.

  • Patent number: 8207830
Abstract: A network communication system (2) for two-way communication comprises: —at least one group of network devices (11); —at least one command device (20) capable of issuing at least one command signal (SC); 5—coordinating means (40) provided with a network definition memory (41) and with a device status memory (42). A network device, in response to receiving a command signal (SC), sends an acknowledgement signal (SA) to the command device. The coordinating means, in response to receiving a command signal for a 10 network device, watches for the corresponding acknowledgement signal from that network device and, in case of that network device failing to timely send the acknowledgement signal, amends in said device status memory (42) the status information (M(i)) relating to said network device. The coordinating means automatically removes a potentially defective 15 network device from the network definition memory (41) on entry of a network amendment mode.

  • Patent number: 8023440
Abstract: Wireless transceivers connect with or in building automation components. The components are bound. Since the transceivers control the access media, the transceivers are likewise bound. The transceiver associated with a component queries the component for the component address. When a request from a controller addressed to the component is received, the transceiver for the component may recognize the component address. In response, the transceiver records the controller transceiver address in the request and transmits a response with the component transceiver address. Other features may assist in binding. For example, the controller transceiver distinguishes between components connected by wire from wireless. Only communications for wireless connections are transmitted. For example, if a binding is not used for an amount of time, the binding is removed. For example, a random or set order is used to avoid or minimize overlapping traffic for the responses for a binding list.

Abstract: An alert notification system and method for neighborhood, business, work location, community and other groups for broadcasting an alert message from one member of the group to the other members of the group. A member of the group who sees or hears of an alert condition, which may be criminal activity, suspicious character(s), animal running loose, natural or man-made disaster or the like, becomes an alert initiator by calling a centrally based alert processing device that, after verifying the caller is a member of a group, allows the caller to record an audible alert message describing the alert situation. The processing device then broadcasts the alert message to each member of the alert initiator's group or groups so the alert recipients may take appropriate action to protect lives and/or property. The alert processing device stores information regarding the caller and the message for later auditing and retrieval purposes.

During operation, the control panel initiates a group supervision poll sequence for each group number by transmitting a group poll command including a group number data field populated by the group number currently being polled.
