Abstract: Examples provide a siren device having a plurality of lockable functions, such as amplifier strength and siren tone functions. At production, one or more of the available functions are placed in a locked state in which the locked function is inoperable. One or more of the functions may be initially unlocked at manufacture or purchase. The user can obtain an unlock code to unlock one or more of the functions, if desired, after purchase. Thus, if a user wants to increase the amplifier strength from one-hundred watts to two-hundred watts, the user can obtain one or more unlock codes to unlock that selected function for a licensed time-period. When unlocked, the selected function operates normally. A data storage device on the multifunction siren device stores an assigned UID, a set of available lockable functions, and a lock status of each function in the set of available functions.

  • Patent number: 7656284
Abstract: A multi-purpose visual signaling device, particularly for road emergency warning and in low visibility conditions, includes light-emitting means for generating a light beam and means for supplying power to the light-emitting means. The light-emitting means include at least one laser projector adapted to project images over a substantially flat surface for such images to be visible from a relatively long distance. The light-emitting means and the power supply means are mounted onto a stationary support structure, which may include a front warning triangle-defining portion. The laser projector comprises at least one laser diode and optical and/or electronic means for generating images in space or over a substantially flat surface. The optical and/or electronic means comprise a diffractive lens. Images include monochromatic, polychromatic and/or holographic images, possibly of variable configuration, and preferably form a triangular design.

  • Patent number: 7554436
Abstract: A self-contained turn signal indicator unit for signaling to the hearing impaired driver of a motor vehicle that the vehicle's turn signals are activated. The indicator unit is attached to the cover of the vehicle's steering column and produces a loud audible signal and a light signal when the turn signal lever is moved to the turning position. The circuitry includes a battery, a turn switch activated by movement of the turn signal lever, and a buzzer and a lamp. A volume control, operable by a user, controls the volume of the sound. An optional timed switch for turning off the circuit has a normally closed position and has an open position for a predetermined period of time after the turn switch is closed and remains closed.

Abstract: A monitoring system for driver's braking habits comprising a sensor connected to brakes of a vehicle provided to sense and evaluate the following levels of pressure being applied to the brakes by a driver: normal pressure, above normal pressure and an excessive pressure level. The sensor is adapted to activate a warning signal element connected to the sensor and is provided to warn the driver when the pressure level exceeds the above normal pressure level and the excessive pressure level which facilitates correction of bad driving habits of the driver and development of preventive driving techniques. The sensor comprises a first sensor adapted to sense and evaluate the above normal pressure level, and a second sensor adapted to sense and evaluate the excessive pressure level.

  • Patent number: RE44912
Abstract: A reversing alarm for a vehicle emits an audible signal in the form of pulses of broad band sound when the vehicle is put into reverse gear. The broad band sound allows persons in the vicinity to locate the vehicle, as the human brain is able to process broad band sound to pinpoint the location of the sound source in a way which is not possible with single tone sounds. The alarm is implemented via a simple electronic circuit which uses a zener diode as a signal generator 20 to generate the broad band sound.
