Abstract: A first alert and a second alert are received. The first alert indicates a first fault related to a first component of the multiple components and the second alert that indicates a second fault related to a second component of the multiple components. The first component affects the second component such that the first fault caused the second fault. A correlation between the first alert and the second alert is determined and, based on the determined correlation, a determination is made that the first fault is a root cause of the first alert and the second alert. An indication that the first fault is the root cause of the first alert and second alert is provided.

  • Patent number: 8880922
Abstract: The power consumption of a computer is dynamically managed independent of the OS or applications and without any delay time caused by system control. A blade server has server blades each including a processor, a power-saving control unit and a power sensor unit; a power supply box that supplies power to the server blades; and a single service processor which defines an electric current consumption upper limit value in the power sensor unit via the power-saving control unit of each server blade. When the electric current consumption of the server blades exceeds the electric current consumption upper limit value, a signal outputted by the power sensor unit is communicated to the processor, the operating frequency of the processor is controlled, and the maximum average power is controlled to be at or below the power consumption upper limit value.

Abstract: On a first level of the wireless building automation architecture, sensors and associated actuators communicate directly. The sensor performs control processes appropriate for the sensor and regardless of the type of actuator being used. The actuator performs control processes specific to the actuator regardless of the type of sensor being used. By direct wireless communication between sensors and actuators, the opportunity for a failed communications link using a hub and spoke arrangement may be avoided. Communication redundancy is provided by receiving the outputs of sensors at a controller, such as a controller on a second high speed or high bandwidth tier of the architecture. Regional control is implemented in the higher level tier. The higher level tier may override or control operation of components of the lower level tier as needed. The computing unit sets a weight value for each of the detectors and a threshold value, and is configured to perform a weight correcting method for correcting the weight value of each of the detectors based on accuracy of operation of the detectors.

Abstract: A method for advanced condition monitoring of an asset system includes monitoring a variable of an asset system using the at least one sensor of a smart sensor system; determining whether the asset system has departed from normal operation; and identifying the variable of the asset system indicating the departure from normal operation. In another method, the time sequential values of the monitored variable is analyzed by using a Rank Permutation Transformation test, a Hotelling's T2 statistic test, and a Likelihood Ratio Test; and a change of an operating condition of the asset system is determined using the analyzed values. An alert is provided if necessary. A smart sensor system includes an on-board processing unit for performing the method of the invention.

Abstract: A sensor signal processor apparatus having good characteristics and providing an easy and simple interface for various sensors. The sensor signal processor apparatus includes a current source, a sensor, a ramp integrator, a comparator, and a controller. The current source generates a constant current according to a preset value, and the sensor outputs a sensor voltage using the current from the current source. The ramp integrator generates and outputs an integral voltage according to an input command, and the comparator compares the sensor voltage of the sensor with the integral voltage of the ramp integrator and outputting a result of the comparison. The controller controls the generating and outputting of the integral voltage of the ramp integrator according to the comparison result of the comparator.
