  • Patent number: 10256905
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for programming a luminaire with location information, referred to herein as commissioning. Location information may include relative location information (e.g., the position of the luminaire relative to a reference point) and/or absolute location information (e.g., global coordinates for the luminaire). A commissioned luminaire can be configured to emit its location information via light-based communication (LCom). In some cases, the luminaire can be commissioned manually, by hard coding the luminaire with its location either at the luminaire itself or using a device (e.g., a smartphone, tablet, or a dedicated luminaire commissioning device) to program the luminaire with location information. In some cases, the luminaire can be commissioned automatically. In some cases, the luminaire may be configured to provide visual, aural, or tactile feedback to indicate that the luminaire has not received location data or that the luminaire has been moved.

Abstract: An approach for enabling autonomous decentralized peer-to-peer telemetry (ADEPT). A first ADEPT peer senses ADEPT peers to interconnect where the ADEPT peers are identified as ADEPT light peer, ADEPT standard peer and ADEPT peer exchange based on respectively increasing IoT device capability. The first ADEPT peer sends and receives requests to interconnect to the ADEPT peers based on messaging. The first ADEPT peer transfers files where the files are distributed toward peer-to-peer networks, creating peer consensus and interconnecting the first ADEPT peer to the ADEPT peers based on the peer consensus. ADEPT peers execute transactions and contracts by decentralized peer to peer consensus network and consensus ledger to enable autonomous device coordination.

  • Patent number: 9947050
Abstract: A central claims adjuster control unit associated with an entity may oversee the assignment of claims cases to claims adjusters. The control unit may designate that a threshold number of cases may be assigned to certain claims adjusters. When new claims cases arrive, the control unit may monitor the workload of each of the claims adjusters and the threshold value assigned to any of the claims adjusters before assigning the case to one of the adjusters. If no adjuster is available, the control unit may store the case(s) in a memory until one of the adjusters becomes available. An additional feature of the control unit includes a user interface for modifying information about claims adjusters, including whether or not a threshold value is associated with them, the value of any associated threshold, and the reassignment of cases from one adjuster to another.

Abstract: Historical aircraft data recorded during flight associated with a plurality of aircraft engines and a plurality of prior aircraft flights is accessed and metrics from the aircraft data recorded during flight is automatically calculated on a per-flight basis, and a probabilistic model is employed to capture and represent relationships based on the calculated metrics, the relationships including a plurality of engine parameters and flight parameters. Conditional probability distributions are then calculated for a particular aircraft engine during a potential or historical aircraft flight based on the probabilistic model, engine parameter values associated with the particular aircraft engine, and flight parameter values associated with the potential or historical aircraft flight, and indications associated with the calculated conditional probability distributions are displayed.

  • Patent number: 9905116
Abstract: An apparatus is described for detecting a pattern warning signal from a hazard alarm and sending an alert signal to a home security panel for notification to a remote monitoring station. The apparatus is mounted proximate to the hazard alarm, where it receives audible pattern warning signals from the hazard alarm when the hazard alarm detects a hazard, such as smoke, fire, carbon monoxide, etc. A user of the apparatus enters identification of the hazard alarm into the apparatus. When a pattern warning signal has been detected by the apparatus, the apparatus transmits an alert signal to the home security panel, as well as the identification of the hazard alarm that generated the audible pattern warning signal.

  • Patent number: 9892603
Abstract: An alarm extension system that takes an interior alarm condition and extends it to the exterior of a structure. In various embodiments, the present invention is a system and method that links to an existing alarm (smoke detector, burglar alarm, etc.) and activates a flashing mode in one or more exterior lights or an exterior siren. Thus, during an alarm condition within the house or other structure, a neighbor or anyone passing by can become aware of the alarm condition. This method of signaling thus alerts many in the surrounding area of a situation within the building that may require emergency assistance. An alarm indication may also be transmitted over a network to a remote location. The network can be a telephone network and/or the Internet, and the alarm indication can be received by a smartphone or tablet device at the remote location.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a system including a frequency mixer that combines a signal and a carrier wave to form a combined signal, and a transmitter that generates a transmission based on the combined signal. The system can also include a coupling device that emits the transmission as an electromagnetic wave guided by an outer surface of a transmission medium. The electromagnetic wave can propagate longitudinally along the surface of the transmission medium and at least partially around the surface of the transmission medium. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: One inventive aspect relates to a method of constructing a graph representing a building (BAT) in which a person (U) moves. In one inventive aspect, the method is adapted to receiving information about the movement of the person in the building over a period of time, the information being collected and transmitted by a portable device (D) associated with the person (U), and in constructing at least one branch of the graph from received movement information. One inventive aspect also provides a method of remotely tracking the activity of a person in a building as a function of the constructed graph. One inventive aspect also provides a server (S) implementing the method of constructing a graph.

  • Patent number: 9836947
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and apparatus for detecting a pattern warning signal from a hazard detector in the presence of a second pattern warning signal from a second hazard detector. In one embodiment, hazard detector monitoring device converts a pattern warning signal and a second pattern warning signal into a composite electronic signal, each of the first and second pattern warning signals comprising an on-time period followed by an off-time period. Next, the composite electronic signal is converted into a digital signal and then an on-time duration of the digital signal is determined as a time that the digital signal exceeded a first voltage threshold. Finally, an alarm signal is transmitted to a receiver when the pattern warning signal has been determined to be present, based on the on-time duration.

  • Patent number: 9812001
Abstract: In a method for remote monitoring of alarms, first and second audio test signals, generated by first and second alarm devices at first and second locations, respectively, are sensed, with both alarm devices corresponding to the same alarm type. For each alarm device, the respective audio test signal is processed to generate alarm identification data. An audio signal that the first alarm device generated in response to detecting an alarm condition (e.g., a fire, smoke, etc.) is sensed, and processed according to an audio recognition technique, and using the generated alarm identification data, to identify the alarm device that generated the audio signal. A notification is then caused to be sent to a user. The notification includes the location of the first alarm device.
