  • Patent number: 10123702
Abstract: A patient monitoring system includes an electronic device that may be manipulated by a first user. The electronic device has a first transceiver. A monitoring unit is worn on a second user thereby facilitating the monitoring unit to detect vital signs of the second user. The monitoring unit is in wireless electrical communication with the electronic device via the Internet or the like. Moreover, the monitoring unit selectively generates an alarm sequence when the monitoring unit detects that the vital signs have deviated from a pre-determined normal state. The electronic device generates an audible alarm when the monitoring unit generates the alarm sequence. In this way the electronic device notifies the first user that the second user is experiencing a medical emergency.

Abstract: A fermentation monitoring system may measure the weight of a fermenting product to determine the progress of fermentation. The weight of a fermenting batch may decrease as carbon dioxide is given off, and a continuous or periodic weight measurement may be used as a control input to a fermentation system, which may adjust temperature to control fermentation or detect that fermentation is not progressing as expected. Such a system may be to use a weight scale attached to a fermentation vessel and have a control system capable of adjusting the temperature of the fermenting contents. One implementation may have a scale mounted inside a temperature controlled fermentation cabinet.

Abstract: A system and method for managing alerts of a mobile communications device is provided. The system includes the device, a processor, and a sensor for monitoring activity of a user and generating sensor data indicative of the activity. The processor is configured for processing the sensor data to determine a current activity of the user; detecting an alert corresponding to an incoming communication; classifying the alert as being immediate or deferred based at least in part on the current activity. If the alert is immediate, the processor is configured to announce the alert without delay; otherwise, the processor is configured to announce the alert after a delay. The delay can terminate when a holdback timer expires or the current activity changes to an activity that indicates that the user can be notified.

  • Patent number: 9886751
Abstract: A pill verification system obtains a prescription filled at a pharmacy and gathers information of the pills being dispensed for a remote pharmacist to verify the prescription. As pills are dispensed to a pill vial to fill the prescription, a pill imaging system captures images of the pills, and a pill vial imaging system captures an image of the pill vial. The prescription, pill images, and pill vial image are transmitted to a remote verification system. A pharmacist is presented with the prescription, images of substantially all pills filling the prescription, and the pill vial of the prescription to verify the prescription is correct. The remote verification system may present prescriptions filled from many different pharmacies, permitting increased rate of verification and one pharmacist to support many pharmacies. The pharmacist's verification is transmitted to the pill verification system and displayed for a technician to complete verification of the pills.
