Abstract: Described are a method and a sensor aware network for dynamic processing of sensor data. Network context data are inserted into data packets from sensors or local sensor networks coupled to the sensor aware network. Sensor aware nodes in the sensor aware network can read the context data and can respond by performing specific network actions. The sensor data and network context data are provided to one or more application nodes. The sensor data and network context data can be stored in a database and later searched according to the network context data. Advantageously, sensor data flows can be treated differently by the sensor aware network, the application and the user, depending on the type of sensor data and the actual data values. Thus critical responses to certain sensor data flows can be implemented more efficiently than otherwise possible using conventional network configurations.

Abstract: A fluid level sensing assembly includes a clamp that securely clamps a fluid level detector in place on a rigid walled infusion container, to minimize movement during use of the infusion container and fluid level detector. The fluid level detector includes a light sensor array and a light source. The light sensor array is positioned vertically relative to a side wall and senses light at various points vertically along the light sensor array. The light source is positioned vertically relative to the side wall and projects light linearly through a vertical portion of the side wall. An incidence angle ? of the light source relative to the side wall is selected such that a light beam emitted by the light source is reflected when a transmission path of the light beam intersects either a side wall/fluid interface or a side wall/air interface.

  • Patent number: 7643766
Abstract: Provided are a light-emitting portion having a light-emitting member and a light emergence surface through which light from the light-emitting member emerges, and a light-receiving portion having a light incidence surface through which the light from the light-emitting member enters and a light-receiving member that detects the light entering through the light incidence surface. The light-emitting portion and the light-receiving portion can make relative movement between a measurement position in which the light emergence surface and the light incidence surface make contact with each other and a waiting position in which the light emergence surface is away from the light incidence surface. When the light-emitting portion and the light-receiving portion are in the measurement position, the light emergence surface and the light incidence surface make contact with each other at a point.

  • Patent number: 7633398
Abstract: A precipitation gauge for measuring liquid and frozen precipitation is provided according to the present invention that includes a support structure having at least one light sensor, or pair of electrodes, and at least one light source disposed thereon so that the light sensor may receive light that is emitted from the light source. The light sensor or light sensors and the light source or light sources generally extend a substantial height of the support structure. The light sensor or light sensors generate an output signal in response to the amount of light received from the light source. A microprocessor receives the output signal or output signals from the light sensor or light sensors and determines whether precipitation is present between the light sensor or light sensors and the light source or light sources. Based on the output signal or output signals, the microprocessor determines and displays the level of precipitation. The microprocessor may also determine the density of frozen precipitation.
